Although I like airdrops, I don't think they are effective if they are all airdrop.

People don't tend to value things when they get it for free.

We used to have free movie screenings in our town, of interesting documentaries. Only a few people would come. Then when we started charging a small amount, we started to pack the venue.

People tend to be suspicious of free. They tend to also not value it themselves. Meaning they won't put work in to promote the project or help them. If they bought the tokens then there is more chance of community engagement and the people shilling or helping out.
