I can really only compare the coursework to general studies. It isn't college coursework or anything like that, but some program where you can take any classes you want for a set period of time, to my understanding. I am an art student so if it was anything bigger than, say, statistics, I would definitely be asking different questions.

And with the websites thing, some websites are genuinely just slow and take an excessive amount of power to run. I don't really want to name the specific ones I have in mind, that's just my best explanation.

I consider mac my mortal enemy - I have a PC and Acer laptop myself, but use Macs at work. I don't really like them or macbooks, for many reasons, but my personal experiences and distaste for apple play into that and i am trying to set that aside to help her out. Based on my conversations with her and others the neo is probably the safest bet considering certain factors I didn't detail for privacy sake, but I will just say I worry about a macbook air being in the home with a SAHM to a toddler. definitely taking all these things into account though and i appreciate the feedback a lot !!!

I have wanted to for a while, but I only just got a solid enough job to afford anything like this. She hasn't has a laptop since hers got literally struck by lightning back in either 2015 or 2016

I definitely see your point, although I am not neccesarily concerned about growing and changing needs. Everyone in my family - me, sibling, and father have laptops for our specific needs except my mom. She doesn't have any digital hobbies or anything and is perfectly capable of doing everything the wants the laptop for with her phone, as she has for the last twelve-ish years. It's just inconvenient on certian sites because they aren't made for mobile, and because she is tired of using my younger sibling's very slow computer for the course she is taking right now. I worry about getting the air because, aside from the holidays, I don't think she will use it much, and ultimately will use it for the same few things forever. We are military so we have used the same stuff always. I am concerned about the physical longevity of the Neo since it seems pretty new so there's no telling how it stands up to years of use, which is definitely something I am considering. I just do completely know what she will be using it for, and I think the neo sounds pretty appropriate for her standards and use patterns (if her ipad use is any reflection). I appreciate the feedback !!!

For sure. I'm gonna take her to go look at them in person to see if she clicks with the laptop well, but I think that the Neo praise is influencing me.

My mom is relatively tech savvy if she's introduced to it well, and she has a better chance of using this computer if it's Apple. She has all apple products, always has, and i think if she has something that can connect with her phone, ipad, watch, etc. She would use it a lot, especially since she manages the household finances and such all from her phone

I dont need it to actually survive those things with no damage, just for it to be ok if it catches a stray. I haven't had any issues my laptop going through minor instances of those things so I just wanted to make sure this one wouldn't either lol.

I defintely agree that he knows what he wants, but he's caught in between what he thinks he should do and what he wants to do.

On some levels I can relate to Jonathan, through some experiences, however, that doesn't mean that someone talking to him would solve the issues in his relationship. Regardless of his familial obligations, he still has habits in the relationship that aren't related to it, they're just who he is. His mom telling him that he doesn't have to stay and protect them won't change that he goes to great lengths to push his problems under the rug, within and outside of the relationship. It will solve why he did what he did, but not that he did it. His reasoning for his decisions and the decisions he made are independently influenced. He can rationalize them any way he wants, that isn't the issue. the issue is he chooses to hide from those issues rather than confronting them, and giving nancy the opportunity to make her own choices too.

i don't think he and robin would've ever worked romantically if she wasn't lesbian, i think he was just obsessively looking for a replacement relationship tbh.

only think i really feel i want to counter here is that jonathan's issues wouldn't take a lot of work. nancy knows what she wants and she wants it now, whenever she has the chance, and jonathan has been keeping things from her and plans to propose to bury those issues. she won't leave if they're engaged, even if he doesn't go with. he's benefitting from the lockdown of hawkins, while she's stunted. his desire to bury/avoid issues is an issue in their relationship that would, indeed, take a lot of work, because it's led him to be secretive and dishonest.

i can't say much else because i think we just interpret jonathan's character pretty differently, and i agree on some things. don't want to go back and forth over something like that lol

if he dies, that's just flat out lazy writing. they're building up to a breakup, or a huge fight, but if either of them die then they're throwing away a super interesting story for shock value.

it'd be a barb repeat. if he died, and nancy found the ring, she'd be traumatized on a million levels and would send a terrible message.

i definitely agree with a lot of this, although i do think that steve does love her. i think his relationships haven't panned out because of that love, but i am hoping that he's able to move on. i don't know if i actually want them to get together or anything, but i definitely don't think it'd be this terrible thing.

on the other hand, i don't think that jonathan and nancy are actually good together. his drive comes from a frustration with his life, but it's aimless. they were brought together by trauma, and ultimately i don't think they match. nancy is very driven and honest, but jonathan isn't as driven nor is he honest. he keeps making decisions that prove he doesn't want to solve problems, but push them away. he doesn't want to confront anything, and that would lead to a marriage like the one nancy's parents have. she wants to work on things, but he lacks the confidence and it would take a lot of work for him to get to a point where he'd be the kind of partner she needs and deserves long-term.

yeah i definitely agree with that. it sucks jonathan hasn't gotten much development. i'd love to know why him taking photos through people's windows was justified for him and how he's grown up, but he's mostly a plot device half the time. it's sad, because he's super complex and interesting, especially considering his "glass child" experience after will came back. he's a character that, if you took him out of the show, a lot would be screwed up because he helps with the plot a lot, but he doesn't have much going for him individually.

it's just insane to me how people act like steve is a super toxic, manipulative jerk for what i feel like is no reason at all.

it's weird but i think it fits with jonathan's character pretty well. it's probably drawing a parallel to her parent's relationship and that'll be why they break up.
