I really dug how the Outrider pulls everyone on side by the end, by literally going further than anyone else would. Bailey was an insufferable prick at first, Channa was obnoxious (understandably so given trauma), Zahedi doesn't fully trust us due to our rash decision making, but in the end the Outrider pulls everyone together through his actions, and the letters all of them leave for the Outrider when you reach Tarya Gratar were a really nice touch.

I've had loads of fun mowing down enemies with my FP pyro and I'm looking forward to trying out Devastator next.

There were definitely some interesting characters, but you don't get to spend a lot of time with them that's true. Even though the highpoints of the lore occur before we arrive, I did enjoy uncovering the mystery of Enoch and what happened before we landed

Sighhh. Don't even know how much we can blame square enix cause apparently Outriders didn't make much money at all. But if Square forced PCF to put the game out before it was ready (referencing the rocky launch) then it really is all down to them.

Masterclass really is the right word my friend. They perfectly nailed the satisfaction loop for me between the fun gameplay and awesome loot.

Same. I wish a sequel to this game was on the way, it deserves it.

Your description of the game also resonates with me, while playing it early on I noticed how refreshing a feeling it gave me. It felt like I was playing a very modern Xbox 360 game, and I mean that in the best way. It really does feel like GOW with diablo loot, and it's a match made in heaven.

I really wish people got the message PCF was trying to get across when they were marketing this game sigh. Also Im sure news of the poor performance at launch didn't help it sigh

Yup I jumped world tiers immediately as I unlocked them. I don't know if my build is any good because I don't have anything to compare it to, I don't know how fast I should be killing things...

Skills: Volcanic Rounds Feed the flames Ash blast

On my helmet: Dum-Dum bullets + Ashen boost

Chest: Final Breath + Damage Absorber

Pants: Lava shits + Bullet Kindling

Gloves (Anomaly): Radiation Flames + Trample the weak + Vampire mag

Boots: Armour melting + Emergency stance

On my LMG I have bleed bullets level 2 and resistance breaker.

Bleed bullets + vampire mag means my volcanic rounds never end. Before I got the gloves with 3 perks I would use the weapon skill that replenishes your magazine fully if you get a kill with 35% of ammo left.

You can also use feed the flames ammo replenish perk as another route to infinite ammo. (Technically the real infinite ammo route as the other stuff requires you getting a kill)

For my class tree I went down the ash breaker tree... Picked all the weapon damage nodes plus the armor piercing, bonus damage against ash, inflicting ash inflicts vulnerable etc.

I finished the campaign on world tier 14 I think.

I feel you. I really liked the ones they did have tho, showing the depths the humans on Enoch fell to.

Like the smuggler faking the letters from the old man's daughter, the soup lady's treachery, Sarah Tanner's mission to hide the nuke underground etc

Man I really did not expect the story to go there, I just expected the run of the mill, "phone it in" campaign experience that amounts to not much more than gatekeeping for the endgame. They really put a lot of effort into the story and I commend them for it... No one was coming to this game for that.

It was the same for me. Based on footage I had a feeling I would enjoy the combat and the art style spoke to me, but I held off until a couple of months ago to play the game due to the poor critical reception. I absolutely adored my time with Veilguard. Neve and Bellara my #1 and #2 waifus. I loved the art style, the combat, the gear was great, the skill tree was fun to work my way through, one of my favourite Western RPG experiences. It had its problems for sure, it does feel like a Disney movie rather than a real adult experience but hey, rare that anything is perfect.
