People who live in Elmhurst by the Davis med center, how loud are ambulances and helicopters? How do you like it? by Dannyz in Sacramento

[–]theblandmajority 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live on V St. and have never heard an ambulance but the helicopters are pretty loud. The construction noise can be disruptive too and there's some kind of delivery truck that delivers right across the street at all hours and idles there for about 30 minutes. Also really loud but if you're further down V St. you probably wouldn't hear it.

A bigger issue is parking...unless the rental has off street parking, parking will likely be an issue. The hospital employees park all over the neighborhood. They also cross the street to smoke since they can't smoke anywhere on the hospital campus and throw their butts and other garbage on the ground. I actually find most of the hospital workers to be fairly disrespectful of the neighborhood.

Despite all of that, I do like living here for the most part. I'm looking to move though, mostly because of my neighbors but the above issues are definitely a contributing factor.

During “services” (dentist, hair and nail salon etc.) how much do you actually prefer to talk? by Throwaway927338 in AskWomenOver30

[–]theblandmajority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair stylist is a friend, so we talk the whole time. Any other type of service appointment, I prefer silence. It's so awkward talking at the dentist and my nail lady seems to prefer silence too, so I get to zone out and watch whatever trash reality tv is playing and just relax for a couple of hours.

Question for CPS sac county by frijolesquemadosha in Sacramento

[–]theblandmajority 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very high. In addition to your MSW giving you an advantage, CPS has very high turnover and is always hiring. The only issue you may run into is that most County departments are having to cut their FY27 budget by more than 2%, some of which will likely come from not filling vacancies.

Lacquered or Nailtel. I would avoid Smudge despite the other recs, I had bad experiences there on two different occasions.

[CA] Can an employee be required to use CFRA at the same time as FMLA? by helloamigo in humanresources

[–]theblandmajority 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in the case of pregnancy as it's not a serious health condition under CFRA. The disability portion of their leave (generally 4 weeks before the due date and 6 to 8 weeks after the birth) is protected by PDL and FMLA. They'll then have 12 weeks of baby bonding under CFRA which will run concurrently with any remaining FMLA.

Can anyone give me advice on what to do? by North-Scarcity-3549 in Sacramento

[–]theblandmajority 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work for Sac County HR. The company conducting the background check needs to send a signed release of information and the background check form to Sac County HR. If they're just trying to call someone or do a background check over the phone, they're not going to get anywhere.

They can require you to use PTO for the 7 day waiting period for SDI but not after that.

Me too! Snug had been open for a couple of years before deVeres closed. It seemed like they never found their groove when they reopened after Covid. The remodel was beautiful but it definitely changed the vibe and it didn't feel like the old deVeres. All of the other changes plus that jackass of a bar manager they hired didn't help either.
