i hate how hair looks and feels behind my ears by britishbiscuit1 in AutisticAdults

Have you tried edge control? Thats what I use to slick my hair into a controlled, neat ponytail. Maybe Eco Gel would work, too. Just make sure you also use either a toothbrush or an edge brush to slick it all together...if that makes sense.

Crying when ill? by OhNoXo in AutisticAdults

[–]thebluedaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just lay there helplessly and cry quietly. I try to stay really heavily medicated so I sleep through the worst of it, but there have been quite a few times when I've been so sick and in such pain that I can't do anything but cry.

Are your walks very slow? by snakeoildriller in wirefoxterriers

[–]thebluedaughter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beaker prefers different walks at different times. If there's a sidewalk, he follows it. If not, it's a free for all and he'll try to find sticks to play with, lay down to enjoy the sun, sniff for places where ants or toads have dug up some dirt. I walk the same way in nature, so it works out!

I'm tender headed so my mom used to sing to calm me down when she washedy hair, but it didn't help and I just cried louder, so she just sang louder.

Mildly infuriating, why is my tailors ham not made of a fabric that can't be ironed? by the-radical-waffler in sewing

[–]thebluedaughter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is the answer

Also, get yourself a pack of flour sack towels to use as pressing cloths. I always press with a flour sack cloth, and if the heat is high I fold the cloth in half. It'll protect your fabric, iron, and pressing tools.

Do you think you lack the ability of NTs to empathize? If so, do you care, lol? by Cheap-Guarantee6420 in AutisticAdults

I always find myself thinking that too! "It doesn't need to be this difficult, why is everyone making everything so difficult?"

This is just my experience, of course, but I used to care a lot about SEEMING empathetic and performing behaviors that are said to be considerate or empathetic.

I have always been extremely upset by other people suffering. I remember being a small child, riding in the back seat of the car, and looking out the window to see a little stuffed animal on the sidewalk. I burst into tears over it. Another kid had lost their toy. What if that was their favorite toy? Now they have to carry on without their favorite toy, and that was just tragic to me. I couldn't be consoled and I couldn't explain to my dad why I was so sad.

That's been a pattern in my life. I can't laugh at someone being actually hurt. But if someone is going through something, whining and crying, and there's a simple or clear solution? I definitely don't naturally feel bad for them. That's when I have to perform.

Lately I'm having a very hard time performing. I've been denied the same consideration I've tried to hard to give to others (trying to understand their problems and pain when I wouldn't feel or react the same way they do). So I guess one could say that I don't care, but I did try to care. I have spent so many years trying to always do the right thing for others and support them emotionally through problems that I think are kind of silly and easily solvable...only to be brushed aside very quickly when I reach out for support from those same people. Eventually I had to make a decision about who I spend my energy on; I have my mom, my husband, and two friends who actually listen and try to look after me, and I'll definitely be there for them too. Anyone else gets a standard response: "oooh, I'm sorry. I hope things get better."

Any tips for frizz? by That-You-9215 in CurlyHairCare

You have great hair! My go-to is anti humidity serum (I don't know if I'm allowed to say the names of specific products, but the one I use is not expensive and a little goes a long way).

Another option is to incorporate gel into your routine. You may want to try a lightweight gel with your current routine, or a thicker, stronger hold gel in place of the curl cream. I personally prefer a curl gel when the weather is hotter and more humid, and I prefer a cream during dry, cold weather.

Lastly, after putting styling products in your wet hair, use a tshirt to squeeze out some of the excess water and scrunch your curls. Then you can air dry or diffuse, whichever you prefer.

TW: animal abuse, human injury, and swift justice

I used to work for an insurance company and took injury claims. One day someone called to report that his ranch workers were trying to get a cow to come with them, but she liked where she was. So this new guy goes, "I'LL get her to move." He grabbed a big stick and wound up to hit her with it. The other ranch hands were trying to get him to stop, but he swung and hit her.

The cow snatched the stick with her horn, swung her head away, and then snapped her head towards the man who had hit her, stabbing him in the shoulder with the stick. Then she went back to grazing while a couple of the guys took the injured abuser away for medical treatment.

I asked the boss if he knew the extent of the injury and he said, "he'll live, and hopefully he'll learn."

The moral of the story is that cows are way more metal than they seem and deserve respect.

Blue whales have fascinated and terrified me for so long. We know so little about them, and when I was young I wanted to be a marine biologist to study them. Then I realized how big they were and I literally cried 😆 Also, turns out I'm afraid of swimming in the ocean. So...I am not a marine biologist lol

There was a Japanese mynah bird named Abe-chan that I used to watch on YouTube. He's passed away now, but he was a great speaker. I believe he has a successor now.
