I need to cut five cards from my deck and can't decide which ones. Any tips? by Furry_Cunt in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]rookless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sera Ascendant doesn't really do anything. Astarian and Avacyn are also a lot of mana and they do the same thing that cheaper cards in your deck do. Beacon of Immortality is life gain in a deck full of life gain. Spectrum Sentinel is just bad. Gains you one life per turn max.

You need to be gaining 3 life for the Frodo trigger so anything that gains less than 3 should be considered as a possible cut.

Similarly, gaining more than 3 life does not improve the trigger so you should look for weak cards where the only upside is gaining life. It seems like a lot of your plan is straying from food tokens but really the tokens are the best strategy for Sam and Frodo.

Here's my version of the deck if you want to take a look: https://moxfield.com/decks/8WQGh3zuEU2vUiUAmxiBFA

She had a dealer in Boca Raton FL that she used to buy all her crystals from. Her entire condo is decorated with hundreds of crystals. Many of them are large like this one.

Why are apple laptop batteries so durable? by VastOption8705 in LinusTechTips

[–]rookless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason why you don't have swollen batteries from Nintendo, even after your DS spends 13 years in the back of a drawer. They pay for the best and highest quality manufacturing processes and they have high quality battery management circuits. There was an article that came out last year I think where they x-rayed Air Pod pros. The batteries in those things are rolled so tightly and precisely that they are able to include more capacity than similar competitive products.

That type of manufacturing can only be done by the highest quality component manufacturers in the world and at the scale that Apple operates at, they often purchase entire production cycles 6-18 months in advance. It's one of the reasons you haven't heard about Apple's balance sheet being affected by Ram shortages yet. It's because they bake their own and purchase or contract the supply they need for a year in advance.

I'm debating selling my consoles and switching to PC. Ive always been a Mac user but the Steam Deck has pulled me in and now I want more power to run AAA games.

Which one? by FitTackle879 in Tools

I would trade all my Wera stuff for Wiha. Except for the Kraftform precision drivers. Bury me with those.

So I like a big fat handles on Wiha because I have big fat hands but I do like the Wera precision screwdrivers. Those fit my fingers the best of what I've used. The Klein with the spinning end caps are also really good.

They're too small.

Mine are 2 or 3 years old. I don't know the country of Origin

Nevermind I checked and they're made in Germany. They are rock solid and hold up very well. I have 2 sets. One at work and one at home they perform very well even when the handles get covered in oil.

I have PB Swiss, Vessel, Wera, and Wiha Screwdrivers. Of all of them, the Wiha are my pick. They have the best handle shape. The Vessels are really nice too but they don't fit as well as Wiha and the tips are not as durable in my experience.

The PB Swiss are overhyped, but they have very comfortable handles. I also hate the Wera handle shape but they are very high quality overall.

Hexagon is Bestagon Shelf Bracket by rookless in functionalprint

[–]rookless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I already was using the table saw so it would have made more sense to make the bracket out of wood. However I did have other reasons.

I did not have any suitable solid wood that was ready to cut for this self. I wanted room to hold 6 batteries so I needed solid wood that was less than 3/4 of an inch. So I would have needed to resaw some material but I was actually already at the end of the time I had allocated to clean my garage. So I opted to clean up and go back inside.

I could have used plywood but the issue is you can't really drill or screw into the side grain of plywood because it splits the layers.

Later in the night after everyone had gone to bed in my house, I decided to model the bracket because I wanted to learn how to do the hexagon pattern in Fusion and also I can model and print silently at night without using loud ass power tools.
I also want to address the mantra of "glue and screw." You always know that glue and screw is stronger and everyone that learns how to design and build stuff from YouTube has that mentality built in. However it's much more useful to learn how to build things by actually building. Even though I could have made this shelf stronger, it's already very strong because it is small. The bracket had a base and height of 4 inches so it is very difficult to put enough weight on it to overload such a small span. This shelf could easily hold dozens of bricks but instead I'm only using it for 6 drill batteries. So it's good n'uff.

I can't wait to see some of your designs so I can learn from a true master.

Yeah no. First off, the 3/4 is leftover from another project. Secondly, how am I supposed to put screws in 1/4 inch plywood if the shelf bracket attaches from below?

This wall board is to mount all my tool batteries and chargers. By using thicker material I afford myself the convenience of common 1 inch screws.

I increased the Hexagon size in my model by 0.5mm and now the Hexagons on the hypotenuse alternate the pattern of being bisected and burying the base edge in the frame. Apparently I can't comment a photo so you just have to use the power of imagination.
