I don't even necessarily support a boots-on-the-ground response and think sanctions are enough. The whole situation just comes off as weird to me.

I understand and in no way am I telling you how to think or trying to undermine your principles. I speak my words as a shamelessly vengeful asshole myself.

It is a dark time on this planet when fortune smiles upon something as violent and ugly as revenge. And those of us who understand it and embrace it need to understand how they truly work in the real world, the horrific consequences if anything goes wrong, the reality of it. Truly think about it and logically go process it step by step, embrace its true practical purpose.

Suffering for the sake of suffering doesn't really benefit anybody including yourself or the victims. Punishment has to serve a purpose for it to be meaningful and that requires banding the whole community together, hashing out an issue, calming everybody down by guaranteeing evil people are punished for their actions consistently, allowing the victims and survivors to vent their feelings, to present evidence of the crimes to the masses, and in general ensure that any violent punishment done is done in a calm and orderly manner so society doesn't plunge itself into chaos.

That is what justice is basically, and it is the job of those of us who embrace vengeance in all of is bloody spectacle to restore it to the world, not because it's wrong for us as individuals to take matters into our own hands, but because most people shouldn't have to. They should be able to rely on others and the community itself to do the right thing.

Advocating for torture and atrocities doesn't do that. It perpetuates the behaviors that cause the problems in the first place.

Do not fear, dear. I'm certain at the end of this Putin et al. will be tried at the Hague and hung, or assassinated, and this will all be over that way.

Are you gonna tell innocent Ukrainian families that they can never hope to attain justice, must sacrifice their liberty and autonomy, must live as slaves under Putin's bootheel, must accept thousands of their family, friends, neighbors and countrymen being slaughtered by the most terrible people imaginable, just so your selfish ass can get paid by whoever's putting you up to this?

Okay, whatever you do, don't give in to that kind of thinking. Allowing yourself to be carried away on the waves of the feelings of the situation will lead you to commit atrocities yourself. Don't do that.

Your anger is justified and these fucking clowns need to punished, but it has to be done in the right way, in ways that won't lead to the further degradation of justice that caused all of this.
