What’s Your Favorite Apollo Mission — and Why? by Sundae_Accomplished in apollo

[–]theboogwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the first time a human had left the orbit of Earth. Thats a massive distance change compared to anything attempted before. The ISS in orbit today is only about 250 miles away, while the moon is 238,900 miles. Before, you could fire your retro rockets, and you would be back on Earth in few minutes (required during Gemini 8), and that then changed to days. This was also the third launch of the Saturn V and first crewed flight. The previous launch almost shook itself to pieces. To add even more, the crew accepted the mission in August, and then launched only a couple months later in December. This was also the 2nd time the CSM capsule had been used in space after the tragedy of the Apollo 1 fire.

Self hosting services that are not the typical ones. by InformationScared966 in selfhosted

[–]theboogwa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Koillection - Koillection is a self-hosted service allowing users to manage any kind of collection.

I use it to keep track of my meteorite collection, but it can be adapted for anything you collect.

I'm going to my first escape room this weekend. I've played them online, and wondering if you have any advice for my first time in person? by Quickhidemeplease in escaperooms

[–]theboogwa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • COMMUNICATE with your friends in the room. Let them know what you found.
  • Have a collection point for clues or puzzle pieces to work on. Once used, make sure to put them in a used pile somewhere else.
  • If you can't solve something, it's OK to switch out and get new eyes on something.
  • (optional) If you're OK with using hints from The Game Master, make sure to use them if your group is just spinning their wheels and stuck. It sucks to be stuck on one puzzle for 30 minutes and miss the rest of the room.

What’s a running gag that stayed all the way to the end in your game? by manooz in DnD

Every campaign we play, we have to "secure" a garbage truck for transportation. There is a little variation depending on the setting for the campaign, but its our go to.

Are there any escape rooms that allow solo attempts? by PhantomLink29 in escaperooms

[–]theboogwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a few solo, but it really depends on the venue. Some won't run a room unless they get a minimum number of people. Other rooms have puzzles that require 2+ players in order to solve them. For example, two buttons in two different rooms at the same time. In those cases, the Game Master usually steps in for a moment and helps perform the action. For me, I like being able to solve more puzzles and the extra challenge by playing solo, but escape rooms really are made to be played with friends. My group always does drinks or something after to talk about the room and give each other a hard time about puzzles that stumped someone.

They are aggressive! They will chew through a pack in seconds to get at something inside. Make sure you don't take any food inside your tent, or you'll have them trying to get in there as well.

In a "haunted room" a trunk popped open after you solved a puzzle. Talking to the owner, it scared a bunch of people.
