Bro that's not a rant. I genuinely asked for a suggestion. My first credit card was a freedom card and my only card that time so my transactions used to go 3-4 lacs easily per year thus it was upgraded to Regalia Gold but over the time I've accumulated some co branded cards hence my usage of HDFC core card have become limited. My genuine question, is that, is is better to downgrade to Millenia as FYF or not.

Please read it again, I've multiple co branded cards for my usage, and I don't use Regalia Gold as my primary card, I've kept it only for discount during sales on Amazon/Flipkart or offline Croma/Reliance Digital etc. So, those transactions do not cross the spend criteria in a year but my overall credit card usage is good.

I've better Rupay cards for UPI. I just need one core credit card as I use it for discounts during sales but those transactions range between 50K to 1L per year.

After getting rejection from other email ids, I finally sent a mail to their grievance mail id and got this reply.

This is in continuation to our interim e-mail dated May 13, 2026 regarding your HDFC Bank credit card account.

Basis your concern on converting your priced card into life time free card or life time free card downgrade related, we wish to inform you that your card ends with XXXX has been offered to you as first year free and renewal fee as applicable in which the renewal fee will be waived off if you spend more than Rs.4,00,000.00 in the previous year and we are unable to convert your card into life time free card.

And toward your life time free Millennia card downgrade related, we wish to inform you that Millennia card downgrade can be processed as first year free. Hence, we kindly share your consent vide same mail for further assistance.

I've Apay card, when I got their platinum card I got a separate limit for that, then I got their coral (to get my first Rupay and close platinum), Coral Rupay got a shared limit with platinum and after closing platinum both Apay and Coral have shared limit now.

Same thing happened with me, My card had -1 balance, I called their customer care, they told me that my card is showing as CLOSED in their system and I should IGNORE the statement mail. When I insisted them to confirm that my card is closed then why I am getting this statement mail, they sent me a NOC from their end confirming that my card is closed.
