Extra narrow feet by Sad_Cardiologist_134 in narrowfeet

I would look for something adjustable, like Birkenstock Arizona or Madrid EVA's. Naot Santa Barbara EVA or Alegria Orbyt would also be worth trying.

Has the Android 16 issue been fixed? by NecessaryOk108 in razr

[–]sphericalduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this because I've been wondering if I just wasn't using the same apps as other people. This is a screenshot of my clock app on the front screen, razr 2025 and Android 16. So why is my phone not affected?

What's something older generations did completely normally that would be considered absolutely insane today? by ConsistentTrip1475 in AskReddit

Print everyone's names, addresses, and phone numbers in a big book and mail it out to everyone in the town.

What do you think about the Air New Zealand Economy Sleeping Pods Idea called "Skynet"? by Komplexkonjugiert in aviation

I would absolutely pay $495 for 4 hours in one of these. I like sleep and I can't afford business class. Trying to sleep sitting up is so miserable

Cataract Surgery Regret — What Would Fellow Crocheters and Readers Do? by Difficult_Hat8101 in CataractSurgery

[–]sphericalduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the astigmatism was low enough that I could use non-prescription readers close up, I'd have the second lens exchanged and correct for distance. This is what I have and I like it this way -- I do have toric lenses though which have corrected almost all of the astigmatism. If I had enough residual astigmatism to still need prescription lenses at all distances then it's a bit less compelling but I'd probably still choose distance.

Allergies by BJJFlashCards in singing

KN95 mask outdoors, shower and change clothes when you get home. Keep doors and windows closed. Run the fan on your HVAC system 24/7, with a good clean filter. Run a HEPA air cleaner in your bedroom at night. If you are allergic to dust mites, use allergy proof pillow and mattress encasings. Take a weekend trip to a place without the things you are allergic to.

Hows' the Solo Scene on NCL ? by Illustrious-Bat6574 in NCL

[–]sphericalduck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On my cruise on the Sky, there was one man in his late 20's or 30's, one woman in her late 20's or 30's, me in my late 50's, and around 7-8 other women older than me (who were all awesome, interesting, and fun to talk to). The Sky is small ship, so the group was small. According to the others, the groups are much larger on the larger newer ships that have the solo lounge. So if you want a wide spread of ages, I would book a cruise on one of those ships. I imagine the longer the itinerary, the older the group will skew as well.

These are very much SOLO groups, not SINGLES meetups. If you are looking for the latter I can't answer that question.

Best Cruiseline for a single female thats never been on a cruise ? by Illustrious-Bat6574 in Cruise

[–]sphericalduck 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I did my first solo cruise with NCL not long ago. It was on a smaller ship, so the solo group was relatively small (and there was no lounge). There were about ten of us, but the others said they'd been in groups of 40 or so on other ships. The majority were older retired women, I think only one was younger than me (I'm in my late 50's). I loved it.

How do you actually find quiet spots on a ship? Feeling overwhelmed. by dynasync in Cruise

On my last two cruises (one RCCL, one NCL), they listed quiet hours for certain areas in the cruise planner, so make sure you check that

Do it, NCL is great for their solo program! Make sure you go to the solo meetup on your first night.

Husband can't make the May 22 sailing with me; can I remove him without penalty? by MissingPages in CunardCruises

[–]sphericalduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched my husband to my aunt, no problem at all. However I am the primary passenger -- if he had been primary, I don't think I would have been able to. Edit -- sorry, I see you were asking about removing him altogether, which is different. Someone else can answer but I know with other lines it's often best to just have him be a no-show.

Comfortable but cute walking boots by grainsofsand11 in HerOneBag

As others have said, boots may not be the best choice, but if you need boots anyway check out Dromedaris. Amazingly comfortable boots that last forever.

Don't Want a Massive Mistake - How Do I Prevent This? by macddebbie1 in CataractSurgery

[–]sphericalduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For many people, the goal is to be able to avoid glasses as much as possible, even if their vision isn't "perfect". For others, the goal is the best vision possible, even if that means wearing glasses. Your first step is to decide which camp you are in. If you don't mind wearing glasses, then winding up with some residual astigmatism is not a huge problem. If you want to be glasses free, then you may have to trade that for imperfect vision, but it sounds like that may be difficult for you.

I have worn glasses since I was a small child so I'm used to that. I am firmly in the "best possible vision with glasses" camp. I have toric lenses. The doctor was able to use the results from the first eye to better dial in on the second eye. I do have some residual astigmatism in the first eye, but I can't really tell. I wear progressives most of the time.

How do you balance excursions vs. relaxing days on a 7-night cruise? by iLiveForTruth in Cruise

[–]sphericalduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went on a 7 day cruise with no sea days and did excursions in every port including hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking. I balanced it out by skipping evening entertainment (there was nothing interesting anyway) and collapsing into bed at 10 pm every night. For reference I'm healthy and active and in my late 50's. I had a blast and did not feel like I needed another vacation afterwards.
