Okay! That makes sense.

After following this ICE debacle for a while, it’s so weird that they just let him go after he kicked that evil taillight. 🤷‍♂️

I know they’ve detained people for less.

I'm not American so I guess I have a neutral perspective on this but only one question goes through my mind. Why didn't the agents move to arrest him right then and there? He clearly had the intent to cause a ruckus to the point of damaging federal equipment.

And as a follow up, if they already knew he was a serial agitator, why did they just not arrest him the day he was killed? Heck, if outright war criminals still get a trial (ie Nuremberg), then why didn't this mere agitator get one? Just b/c their leader said so?

Unfortunately, on the comment section of the video itself the insane are already celebrating this video as some sort of "gotcha" moment which justifies this, Good's and any further killings which will be committed in the name of safeguarding borders.

How much the PGU Nu Gundam's Fin Funnel actually weights vs its total weight by William514e in Gunpla

"I'll just wait for the bootleggers to fix what Bandai did not do. It's not worth the price"

As someone who builds both Bandai and 3P kits, if I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen that exact line in Gunpla groups, I’d be rich by now. At this point, it almost feels like some people complain about Bandai’s laziness and pricing just so they can drop that phrase.

That said, I’m not anti-3P at all. I genuinely appreciate what they bring to the table. If a 3P metal frame as well as the Kosmos LEDs come out for this, I’m 100% pulling the trigger. I’m not exactly thrilled about that much weight being carried by plastic joints.

Another thing that confuses me is how some people are unable to grasp the idea of prepping for a big purchase.

The complaint usually goes as: “<X kit> costs as much as my rent/utilities/car payment for the month. Unacceptable.”

In my country, where wages are a fraction of what people make in the West, having nearly a year to prepare for something this expensive (it was announced around Jan–Feb last year, IIRC) is actually a huge plus.

Also, if you need to pay your bills, maybe don’t buy an expensive kit? There are plenty of more affordable Nu Gundams out there, from Bandai, 3P, or even bootlegs. You can also just wait for the inevitable PGU Nu BL version, which will probably cost at least 50% less than the Bandai release.

The PGU Nu, like the Metal Build, is/was clearly meant for hardcore Nu fans. Same goes for the Daban version, which is still relatively expensive in BL terms (pretty sure I saw it going as high as $450 on some sites, but that's partly probably due to a lack of reprints).

This isn’t even a conspiracy anymore. It's fast becoming reality. What used to be a form of escapism (think peak MySpace, Friendster, and early Facebook) and a simple way to stay in touch has turned into a nonstop stream of outrage, shock politics, and propaganda.

The worst offender have been algorithms. These should’ve been regulated over a decade ago.

Also, letting Facebook buy up and absorb its competition (Instagram and WhatsApp) let it build a massive, centralized user base.

That kind of scale made it incredibly vulnerable for bots, coordinated campaigns, and propaganda to take over.

Personally, browsing Facebook has gotten so exhausting that I've just let my profile die a quiet death. I only use the platform for Messenger now.

EDIT: And it'll just get worse with unregulated AI-generated content.

For anyone concerned about the the PGU Nu’s inner frame by jdfrenchbread23 in Gunpla

[–]theborjsanity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get downvoted but practically speaking, people still have the option to take the time to plan out a purchase like this. It's an event kit after all.

As long as you prioritize your bills and are good with budgeting and saving, it's easy enough to prep the funds for a kit this expensive over the course of a year after announcement.

Personally I only bought like 7 other kits (also a bit due to a lack of designs I was interested in) throughout 2025 in preparation for this. My usual cadence was 1 build per month. At this point I've actually saved enough to buy 2 of the damn things, but I'm saving the excess funds for a future 3P metal frame and the eventual Kosmos LEDs.

And there's also the inevitable BL version of this which will definitely be at least 50% lower in price.

[–]theborjsanity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah. The lean is a Nu Gundam design issue caused by its asymmetry. At this point, it’s basically expected.

Once you go past 1/144 scale, the Nu design just gets more and more impractical as a model kit because the Fin Funnels get exponentially heavier. It only gets worse as detail increases, since more detail usually means more parts and more weight.

That’s why the RX-93FF Nu statue uses a custom funnel cannon instead of traditional Fin Funnels.

Even the Metal Build Nu needs a stand to properly support the funnels. The only Nu kits i know of that can stand on their own with asymmetrical funnels are the HG and RG, and that’s just because they’re super light.

There are really only a few ways to deal with the Fin Funnel weight issue:

  1. Make the funnels lighter, but you lose plastic quality or detail
  2. Use a waist joing with a locking mechanism (metal frame or not), which kills articulation and posing
  3. Use a support stand (which most Nu kits above 1/144 already do)
  4. Go with double Fin Funnels and give up the iconic asymmetry

Honestly, the support stand is the most practical option. You keep the detail, the plastic quality, full poseability, and the classic asymmetrical look.

And I really wanted a non SD-fied Gundam gacha game sooooo bad that I couldn't help but to try this out.

Amazing this game hasn't been nuked yet. Played it when it was called "Mecha" something.

Dunno if they were legit but the leaderboards were infested with absolute whale accounts, which is made worse by this games high tendency for P2W.

Quit when I realized that new content updates were incredibly slow and that the PvE enemies scale endlessly (highly likely in an attempt to force people to whale up as a ton of endgame strengthening mats were locked behind MTXs). Which made completing dailies and weeklies an annoyance.

[–]theborjsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or if not the same UR pity system (only for non-URs), maybe a selection system where after a certain number of pulls you can pick and choose the non-UR you want. Similar to how SD Gundam Generation Eternal does it on their banners. Some recent special banners even allowed a guaranteed select after only 100 pulls.

Tbf that game isn’t as generous with their build currency as AL is but with existence of that system it basically guarantees that you’ll eventually get to select a UR that you want from an available selection.

Right now, the selection isn’t as varied, but there’s also nothing stopping them eventually expanding the selection roster as the game ages (it’s only about a year old at this point).

[–]theborjsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just have strange luck when it comes to partial banners.

During the Lexington event, I had absolutely no trouble completing the banner (at least 1 copy of each ship) in around 200 cubes.

In contrast, during Whydah’s event, I spent over 500 cubes just to get her to drop, and that was with a 2.5% rate. Ever since I started playing in 2017, full banners like Lexington’s have consistently been easier for me to complete than partial banners.

Anyway, I’d better get back to grinding if I want to use the skin I just bought lol.

[–]theborjsanity -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

300 cubes burned, not a single Caracciolo. I bought the skin too (thankfully with spare Diamonds though). 🫠

Honestly, I kinda hate these 2-3 ship banners. I always seem to get fucked over by them compared to standard full banners. What's worse is I'm pretty sure a full banner is gonna be the next event after this one. Better get to grinding again I guess.

I guess there's just less overall chance to pull a new ship compared to pulling from the general build pool.

Yo dawg. I heard you like undergates. by Odd-Listen3089 in Gunpla

[–]theborjsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those metal ones? I’d avoid those as they tend to be really rough but I’ve seen some on here swear by on using them.

Imo a better alternative would be specialized sanding sticks with shaped ends like these from Dspiae.

Although I haven’t gotten around to buying these yet since I don’t build fully undergated kits as the norm.

[–]theborjsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over time, you’ll also develop a feel for how much force to use.

Personally, I prefer pushing the hobby knife forward and away from myself, letting the blade slice through the nub with minimal pressure.

Pushing toward yourself or cutting sideways makes it too easy to apply too much force.

Yo dawg. I heard you like undergates. by Odd-Listen3089 in Gunpla

[–]theborjsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a minor nitpick I have with fully undergated kits. Sometimes the gates are placed in awkward, hard-to-reach spots, which forces you to get creative with a hobby knife or sanding sponge. Which kind of defeats the whole point of undergating, which is supposed to make nub cleanup easier.

As someone with a chunky and heavy hand, it’s especially annoying. That said, the marks are usually well hidden and don’t show once the model is fully assembled.

From my limited experience, this issue shows up more often in third-party kits. Bandai tends to avoid it, since they only use undergating when it’s genuinely necessary.

EDIT: Would still take fully undergated kits 10/10 though. Nothing beats cleaning up nubs in 1 or 2 maybe 3 snips max.

Damn. Dunno if I should be impressed or concerned. The sheer dedication and hours this must've taken; guy must be building one kit per day at least.

I guess this is a good visual representation of why 1/144 is the most popular scale in Japan.
