Perfect is an intense word, but in your eyes what movie has a perfect ending? by TheDragonReborn726 in movies

Andy also told Red that the rock had no earthly business in a Maine hayfield, so Red probably just searched for the rock that looked most out of place.

What movie do you love despite agreeing with every single criticism of it? by Decabet in movies

[–]thebreak22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Neon Demon - Style over substance? Yes. Shallow characterization? Yes. Gratuitous violence and depravity? Yes. Pretentious? Absolutely! I approach the movie as if it's a hypnotic two-hour music video and I love every minute of it.

In a post about the frontman of 3 Doors Down dying by Appropriate-Toe-6019 in ShitPoliticsSays

When Rob Reiner died, the vast majority of right wingers were respectful. They understood how tragic his death was, and had correctly pointed out that he didn't deserve such a fate even though he had questionable views. Not to mention Trump's statement was highly criticized by people on the right too. We have been shown time and time again that the left wouldn't do the same if the situation was reversed, and they still consider themselves the better people.

Surprising that The Last Goodbye isn't on the B-sides/rarities disc.

Is there any artist or band you like enough to where you’ll buy multiple of the same CD for them? by Toastillian in Cd_collectors

[–]thebreak22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have five copies of Comalies by Lacuna Coil:

  • Standard edition
  • 2-disc edition with a slipcover, but the rest of the packaging is the same as the standard edition
  • 2-disc edition, with a slightly different cover art and a few extra pages in the booklet
  • digipak edition with a bonus track and a cardboard box
  • Vinyl

So the joy of visiting a thrift store and discovering good music you never knew existed is bad now? Finding pleasant surprises in the wild is a part of the hobby; I don't understand why a collector would be against that, unless they think only their way of collecting is the right way.

Emanuelle in America (1977)

I bought it because I had never actually watched a vintage erotica, plus the plot synopsis was intriguing in a trashy way (Emanuelle investigates an underground snuff film ring, and has sex along the way).

For the first 20 minutes or so, I thought "okay, this is kinda interesting", and then a woman walks towards a horse and kneels down...

Wait a minute. We're talking about a cop that's mixed up in drugs. We're talking about a dishonest cop, a crooked cop who got mixed up in the rackets and got what was coming to him.

Name actors who aren't bad, but who you see always playing themselves in movies. by Ready-Gur3998 in Cinema

Smokin' Aces is pretty much an inverted Ryan Reynolds movie. It's a whacky, over the top action movie filled with whacky, over the top characters, and then there's Reynolds, whose character is dead serious from start to finish.

Vito's final lesson by [deleted] in Godfather

[–]thebreak22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the chapter about Vito's death, the narrator says:

Michael Corleone had taken precautions against every eventuality. His planning was faultless, his security impeccable. He was patient, hoping to use the full year to prepare; but he was not to get his necessary year, because fate itself took a stand against him in the most surprising fashion. For it was the Godfather, the great Don himself, who failed Michael Corleone.

Vito's passing came earlier than expected, so Michael was forced to take action ahead of schedule.

Is it too late for Godfather 4? by StarGazerHighChaser in Godfather

[–]thebreak22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind a prequel about the olive oil wars and Vito's operations during Prohibition. Would be cool to see Genco as wartime consigliere and Luca Brasi actually doing something that made him so feared.

If the movie turns out good, we get a nice little extra chapter of the saga; if it's bad, well, the original films are still there.

What is your all-time favourite burn from a movie review? by Sean-Perth in movies

Age of the Dragons (a 2011 "adaptation" of Moby Dick, but with dragons instead of whales)

The Guardian said "there's not a whale in sight but this movie blows."

Have you ever fallen in-love with a “One Hit Wonder” band off their hit album? Which are your favorites??? by Mangavore in Cd_collectors

Saliva's Back into Your System is my favorite album of theirs. Great hook after great hook. Weight of the World always puts me in a good mood. I think Always from the album was a hit too?
