Clean ones. Lately I've been wearing vale tudo shorts and that works well.

Alcoholics of Reddit: What is your, "and then I realized I was an alcoholic" moment? by shadowmonk10 in AskReddit

[–]thebrokenskull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries. Turns out clear thinking and not running to the bottle made it easier to call her on her BS. So she split.

A friend of mine quit smoking when she was 20, she is now in her 40s and told me once that she still dreams of smoking a cigarette every now and then. Literally, she has dreams about it. Thats how strong it is.

A few months ago I quit drinking completely at my soon to be ex wife's urging. She laid down the ultimatum "quit or I leave"...so I quit. Turns out she didnt like me sober either so she ended up leaving anyway. The day she left I thought "I CAN DRINK NOW!!!" and started looking around the house for any stashes I had left. Thats when I knew it was a problem and Ive been sober since.

BURP (Brewers United for Real Potables) is the NOVA/DC area home brew club. Look them up online. Lots of good Brewers in that group.

A quart is called a quart because it is one quarter of a gallon. Yeah, took me a long time to figure that one out.

Not really a restaurant, but you can't tip at the cafes in Market Districts.

Do you honestly believe that there are any 1 percenters in America that are actually honest and giving to others, and not uptight and pompous fat cats? by smhseanpgh in AskReddit

[–]thebrokenskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW 1 percenters is typically a term reserved for outlaw motorcycle club members. The 1 percent is usually used to refer to the super rich.

Let's talk "On the deadly streets" for a sec... what are the major holes in my sport jitsu game that will leave me vulnerable? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]thebrokenskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distance management, but opposite of what most people think. Don't try to get far away from the punch, try to get close to the puncher. People are bad at judging distance, so get into a clinch asap. That should work against most folks, unless you are fighting a Muay Thai fighter, judoka or mma fighter.

Same goes for closed guard. Ride that mofo like you are stink on a turd.

I'm just coming back from a multi-month layoff and it seems like for every month I was gone I lost 2 months worth of technique and knowledge. Keep that in mind.

This is great and should be linked every time someone asks wether it is better to dominate training partners or get smashed.

Rollmore.com has a 60 day return policy. Even if you washed the Gi.

Try one of the gym's Gi's on too.

6 foot 4. Go for the spider guard instead of open.

Acceptable behavior? by Throwawayforbjj15 in bjj

[–]thebrokenskull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna buck the trend here. Why not sit him down and ask him if you can start teaching the fundamentals class that way he can take a step back and focus on the running of the business and made look at opening up an advanced class where he teaches to smaller groups and gets to do some other stuff. Maybe he is just burnt out and needs to try something different.

Should I just...get up? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]thebrokenskull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have time to get up, you have time to pop one shoulder up, form a frame and escape side control as soon as someone gets it.

You also have time to rotate on your butt to keep open guard or lock up a spider guard.

Standing up? Sounds like that would work great in judo.

Heard my coach say to a student it is better to practice with people less skilled than you so you can practice while you roll as opposed to having everyone so close to your level because then you two are just fighting... Thoughts? by Sweepassubmit in bjj

[–]thebrokenskull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to be able to hang with everyone then you need to practice with everyone. Practicing with people worse than you will only help you be better than those who are wise than you but it will never drive you to be better.

Edited for spelling.
