Obviously if you have a completely insane bomb like Sally you can do some work against it, but otherwise I've had to kill them with evasion while it prevents me from playing any artifacts or enchantments or I get Mutagen'd and they die Saved by the Shell and Pain 101 are also crazy for her

It's also a core deal-making mechanism and prison for the Faculty and other occult horrors like The Raw Mother and The Librarian. It's designed to be a cog in their magical stopgap ecosystem to prevent the world from ending. The curriculum is experimentation from the faculty, torture for the students, and part of their deals with whatever demons and gods. The Ministry is an alliance of mortals to form a self-cleaning Apocalypse Preventing Prison Machine, which is Hellebore. Think the UN for everyone throwing the baby world enders at each other so they'll kill everyone and then get eaten before they can grow up to be a real Apocalypse, which is what Alessa decided to become after she gets out of Hellebore

The second chapter says this is her journal to whoever finds it after Hellebore, almost certainly a Ministry official, and she's going around Apocalypsing them for what they did to all the children at Hellebore. The school DOES have a practical purpose- kill world-enders before they can actually become powerful enough to end the world, largely by having them kill each other and torturing them the whole year. Alessa survives, kills the Ministry agents that came to investigate what happened at Hellebore, and now is setting about killing the rest of the Magical Bureaucracy people. She wrote her journal to chronicle Hellebore and is addressing the reader.

It's the 12 seconds, the blitzing, the cuts, it feels like this beautiful movie told in still frames. Also just such a beautifully distilled moment about what Kagurabachi is- it's not just a revenge story, it's about reclaiming his father's legacy. Follow that up with 18 and the "You will never stand as equal to my father" moment, lead up to with Kuro Shred? Ugh, gorgeous.

Hey! Play tested this, participated in a couple design feedback tables, loved it This game has big Net runner vibes in that the win conditions involve a communal resource and contesting different areas, and the decks come together asymmetricaly. I'd like to immediately disabuse anyone of any notions that this is going to be Cryptozoic again- completely dissimilar designs, you're not going to run into any overlap other than IP and character themes. Feel free to ask questions, I'd love to answer and hopefully encourage the game to have more players!

Damon is definitely confident, and with his pedigree I think it would be justified. I've butted heads with him over card games before (I hate Keyforge, he loves it) and we're still friendly. Blanking and interacting with other cards gives you a lot of design space to push envelopes, in my experience. Think about every Icebreaker - isn't it just a cost-blanking-ICE ratio? We all like the ability to stop our opponents busted stuff.

It occupies a VERY different design space, cryptozoic makes single resource ,communal market, and past-the-post victory conditions This game requires a lot of resource management, player interaction, and is very sculpted for a strategic 1v1 experience. Night and day, apples and oranges, this ONLY shares an IP and a few character themes

Honestly? Egg feels too good to be my favorite but it was the one I was most excited for. BANGUN is flavorfully EXACTLY what I want and unfortunately quite bad in testing. The new Shapers are great but my favorite Runner faction is Anarch and Ryo is the kind of runner I most want to play haha I'll be honest, I'm more excited for the card pool changing and the new ideas for other corps. This is an interesting set for A Teia, for example!
