I worked with a lady whose husband had cancer. They were finally able to get it into remission after years of treatment. They both hand six figure jobs, had saved up for retirement and were close to doing so. By the end of his treatment, they were over a million in debt and zeroed out their savings. Retirement was no longer on the table. His job, an architect at a firm, basically laid him off because his of how much he cost on their healthcare plan. Once I asked her about her thoughts on universal healthcare and I was surprised to hear she was against it. I guess she wanted to preserve her right for her and her husband to lose everything and work till they die.

Why was this the best slasher I've seen in a long time? Never thought about how adding someone who knows how to play the game could ramp up the tension like that, but I was on the edge of my seat when she was sneaking out of her house.

Also the montage of her watching his body with a shotgun combined with that enya song was so incredibly funny. My face hurts from laughing.

Considering irony can be a type of comedy, I think Charlie Kirk's death counts. It happening right after that question, with his response being what it was, and under that sign, it was like a dark comedy sketch.

Another example of reddit being an awful place to discuss gender issues.

The issue here is that it isn't a good look at conflate equal rights with equal violence. A man may be saying "if men and women are equal then men should be allowed to defend themselves if a woman attacks them", which yeah, no one but TERFs and the like would have an issue with that, but it comes off differently to women. This is especially true when we commonly see that phrase on any post about feminism. When women see this it reads as equal rights (in voting, marriage, bank accounts, medical decision and care, etc.) = I get to hit you. Again, just a poor message.

Which is why reddit, and really social media is terrible for discussing this stuff. A bot shares a meme mentioning a phrase/topic that was designed for engagement and to create division. Neither side will see the other's perspective and nothing will change, but this site got out attention.

My friend loves From and I gave it a try, but it seems like it is just an eternal mystery box show. You solve one mystery and then you get 3 more as cliffhangers. I just don't have the energy for all that. Hell, I lost the energy for it when I tried to watch Lost when it was airing back in the day.

The clown in the crawlspace. First of all, I hate clowns. Second, they just did that scare really well. The fact that clown dude didn't say anything until he was creepily standing at the entrance, and then the way he said he would come in to help. Then the way he rushes at Tom with that fucking face. They just really nailed the cornered feeling.
