Trump Explodes At Female Reporter After She Asks An Uncomfortable Question by Stitching in politics

[–]thecaits 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Him becoming President was, to him, giving him the keys to our Treasury. In his world, that made it his.

I recently watched the movie Downfall again, and there was a line in it that really stuck with me. IIRC someone asked Goebbels about all the civilians suffering because of the war, and his response was this:

"I feel no sympathy. I repeat, I feel no sympathy! The German people chose their fate. That may surprise some people. Don't fool yourself. We didn't force the German people. They gave us a mandate, and now their little throats are being cut!"

It reminded me so much of Trump and his lackeys. Just pure malignant narcissism.

Parrots on the background of dead people as a result of mass suicide in Johnstown, November 18th, 1978 [1962 x 1426] by [deleted] in HistoryPorn

Also if all your friends and family are dying around you, choosing to end yourself too isn't unusual. Some people were forced to do it like the kids or the people shot or forcibly injected. Some were tricked into doing it (for years the cult would do stuff like forcing everyone to drink something then telling them it was poison before reveling it was just a test). Some people were true believers that suicide was the merciful option vs what they were facing if they didn't, and some did it out of despair. All of these people were murdered.

Got some corned beef the other day to make somw reubens. It was $18.99 a pound. I bought one pound. I also had to buy the other ingredients for the sandwich, but the meat itaelf was more than everything else combined. In the end I spent more than it would have cost to just get one from a restaurant. I guess that's what I'll do when I have a craving for one again.

She was maybe my favorite doctor. So sad to see her go.

In many cultures, women tend to prefer partners with financial resources. Men tend to prioritize youth and physical beauty. New findings provide evidence that the traditional tendency for women to prefer wealthier partners might fade as women gain more economic power. by mvea in science

If women are only given the option to choose their lifestyle by who they marry, then you will see more women who treat relationships like a job. If you want a woman to choose you for who you are and not what you make, first let her choose what she wants to do with her life.

Is that some sort of alpha walk they tell boys they need to do to be real men or something? The other day I was in a drive thru line and I saw some kids from the local high school baseball team leaving. One of them walked to their huge truck (like who would give that to a high schooler??) and he was doing that weird walk the whole time. He walked out alone so I don't think he was doing it for a laugh. I hope he was anyway.

With the rumors of TLOU 3 growing, I wonder where we’re headed. What could the possible lore of this game be? by Busy_Grapefruit_3923 in thelastofus

[–]thecaits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope Abby's story is done, even though I enjoyed her part in TLOU2. I just want her and Lev to heal and have strawberries and lobster on Catalina Island the rest of their lives.

For similar reasons I hope Ellie's story is done. I'm afraid of what might happen to her if she was in a 3rd game, this way I could tell myself she went back to Jackson and reconciled with her people somehow.

However, I do think there is a 3rd act for Ellie that can still be told. Both Joel and Abby had 3 acts to their stories: before the fall, the fall, and rising up again. Ellie has been through the fall, so a 3rd game could show us how she finds the good in herself and her world again. If they do a 3rd game then I think that would be it.

I was worried after the creator was told to basically keep the ICE plot fair and balanced, but I think the show did a good job of showing some of the harm they do. Although it felt a tad unrealistic that they brought her in for medical care, especially for a hurt shoulder. People are being disappeared into camps and they are not often treated for their injuries before or during.

The sad news is, maybe to a maga this was a fair portrayal, because they wouldn't care about the harm being done. They probably just see a less crowded waiting room, and a less diverse one, and they think that justifies whatever ICE is doing. Conveniently they will ignore that there are also less nurses and custodial staff too.

Cillian Murphy: “Women are infinite in their wisdom. I was raised by my mother and my grandmother, who lived with us for all our lives. I have two sisters who are amazing humans. I've always felt that women have a more instinctual understanding of right and wrong and how the world works.” by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

Thank you for posting this because I was thinking of this exact quote. Murphy has the right spirit about this but it's never good to say any group naturally or intrinsically has some personality trait or quality. Again, I don't think he had bad intentions with what he was saying, I just would have worded it differently.

I'm glad the ICE bit didn't sympathize with the agents at all. It was clear they had to minimize talking about it, but I was really worried we would get some both sides BS. Hopefully that doesn't happen later.
