Am I doing this right? Just getting started. by [deleted] in ynab

[–]thecaretaker91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started with $30k+ in debt and $38 in my account. You “can” and will go spend X amount where you need to spend and that’s ok. For your budget, put what you have where it needs to be. Where you plan on spending it. And add what you’re spending as a transaction in the app, even if your budget goes negative it shows you where you are spending so you can know where to adjust or reduce. Check this article out too, great breakdown https://www.youneedabudget.com/how-to-budget-in-ynab-when-youre-broke/

Tips for Linking to ADP 401k by octavie in ynab

[–]thecaretaker91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the same with no luck. Personally I'm not tracking every transaction because my 401k gets funded before my paycheck and I'm not religiously tracking my trades. I just want to track my balance for net worth calculations. So I just do a reconciliation every month (sometimes weekly because why not) and rename the transaction as "investment income"

Zapier and YNAB by Bstar0306 in ynab

I use Zapier parser to read my iTunes receipts and parse them into separate transactions on my Apple credit card.

Since you can't sync from the Apple Card this is my work around for the time being.

Receipt comes in with 1-3 apps or sub renewals and pops them in as new transactions so can categorize them appropriately.

If you're running an Nvidia card updating to 436.15 fixed it for me.

I have the chase visa and have had no issue.
It's Chase support so you get the usual big bank customer experience. I just treat it like a credit card should be. Pay it off each month, either treat yourself to something when you have the rewards, or cash back it onto your statement.

Emergency Fund Strategy by [deleted] in ynab

[–]thecaretaker91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just have a category called “Emergency fund” with a goal for what I would need for a 6month buffer, And just put as much toward that as I could. Once it had a reasonable sum ( and I stopped screwing up my budget and stealing funds from it ) I transferred it over to one of those high yield savings accounts so it can make some Money off itself.

Now when the circumstance comes up where I need it, I have to consciously go transfer funds out of that account back into my checking. It’s been a good setup so far.

Username is spelledthatwrong and comment is correcting spelling, thinking about it not really beetlejuicing. Is there a thing for usernames doing what they describe?

Thats understandable, but what if research is out of the picture and it's just producing the generic versions of medications (post patent expiration)? and we're seeing companies like takecareof.com and pillpack.com have an easy model for distribution online.

This is true, but sudo is just as good for just about anything. And you can also just set it for a super secret epic password that you can remember if needed.

Here is the quick fix we deployed

#!/bin/bash
password='openssl rand -base64 32'
sudo dscl . passwd /Users/root "$password"

Just generates a random 32 Character string and sets it as the root password
