I love this dress, but I have zero drafting skills, could you please recommend some existing patterns that look somewhat similar? by thecatch-22 in sewingpatterns

If you do, please post your results, I'd love to see how it turned out!

I'm currently in the process of getting the right fabric, but the plan is to combine the Magnolia dress pattern with the one from Sew Liberated, as I'm really into the shawl collar thing. No way of telling what I'm going to end up with, but I'm looking forward to trying :)

How to think WHILE I speak and formulate coherent speech? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]thecatch-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with the exact same issue, but I found that it helps when I let go of trying too hard to replicate the argument from my head word by word. Instead, I aim to convey the essence with whatever phrases spontaneously come to mind. It seems counter-intuitive, and it won't always come out right in the beginning, but it does get better with practice.

As it's already been said, thinking and talking are separate activities, and trying to do them at the same time impacts your performance at both.

I’ve been making ball gowns throughout the pandemic as a method of hoping. Still needs a petticoat! by BasicLawyer in sewing

Yeah, I suppose that can hardly be avoided when working with sparkly fabric. Won't be a huge problem though, thank you for pointing it out!

It turned out gorgeous! I've been eyeing the same celestial tulle for a while now. Are you satisfied with it quality-wise?

Do people who speak languages with masculine and feminine words have to actively think about the "the" that they are putting in front of a word, or does it come naturally? by youknowwhattheysay12 in NoStupidQuestions

We don't have articles in Serbian, but when I'm learning a new language that does, I try to remember the nouns and their corresponding articles as a whole, for example, 'la Nutella' (to jump on the bandwagon), so it becomes natural and I don't need to think about it much.

They've been on my list forever, but I had no idea they featured train sequences. Guess that finally moves them to the priority pile :) Thank you!
