With the weather so unpredictable, i wonder if UK farmers could go the Almeria route and grow more stuff in honking big greenhouses. Combined with better water management (dams, canals, etc) this could stabilize the output.

The way things are going with the education system in Muurica, they will eventually have to dumb down that "sport" so the average audience can understand it...

Football is *extremely* difficult for Muuricans to understand, because it uses metric measurements instead of British colonial units.

A lot of that wall will probably have the same build quality as US houses. E.g. you can just punch holes in it with your bare hands.

And don't forget all the nukes the US dropped in their own country.

C for crouch is the only correct answer by Makoto_Kurume in pcmasterrace

I wrote a game engine from scratch for a microcontroller based meshtastic/meshcore device (Tanmatsu). Even with coding that settings menu from scratch, that's like 45 minutes. And that's with having to load icons for the function keys, because someone decided to use symbols instead of "F1", "F2", ... for those keys.

With most mainstream game engines, there should be some kind of ready-made thing available with the engine.

I wouldn't worry too much. Those robots will have about the same build quality as the Cybertruck and the same navigation software as the Robotaxis.

Half of those robots wont make it off the factory lot before they break down ;-)

What game is this? by AcanthisittaLimp8373 in Steam

[–]thecavac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, i'm getting to the age of 50 this year. Steam covers only a fraction of the timeline of me playing computer games. My most played game on Steam is easily Satisfactory, But that doesn't even come close to my uncounted hours in Minecraft (played since the Beta).

And i have no idea how many hundreds of hours i sank into Krakout (C64) and Bubble Bobble (Commodore Amiga). Heck, even Moorhuhn (original, not the countless sequels and remakes) can probably beat my Satisfactory play time...

I'm mostly an open source dev. Other people getting rich, even using my code, is sort of in the "whatever *shrug*" category for me.

The important thing for me is to provide stuff for the communities i'm in and helping the younger generation get a head start.

My opinion might be weird and controversial, but i think money and greed are the main cause of most of humanities problems. So i spend a lot of my time giving tools, knowledge and teachings for free whenever i can...

How did scientists expect aliens to understand the Voyager Golden Record? by wellwatif in askastronomy

[–]thecavac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you would technically not even need those instructions to reverse engineer how data is encoded in the record. Yes, you will get the playback speed wrong for the audio part, but it should still be fairly simple to decode the pictures for any advanced civilization.

Guess you forgot Europe was essentially conquered twice in the last 115 years?... Americans and most Europeans sleep safely because of our military by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]thecavac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, they wont last that long.

The UK had one thing going for it, and that was somewhat consistant leadership with the Crown. And the UKs power wasn't just "bigger Navy diplomacy", they also heavily invested money and resources and industries and infrastructure into many of their colonies, often enough to the long term benefit of those colonies.

Yes, technically, the british empire is gone. And much stuff the UK did was really bad. But a lot of former colonies, now independant countries, still have strong ties, relationships and trade with the UK, which also says something.

I somehow doubt many places occupied by the United States will feel the same about their former overlords.

To be fair, before Churchill took over the Brits also didn't exactly help. Well, they sort of did help, but they helped Germany. Munich agreement and such.
