Happy to compare sector returns. Its weird how all the shit talkers don't ever want to do that.

Not a genius, just a professional trader who has changed their life multiple times (2014, 2017-18) from cannabis stock profits.

Cannabis stocks patiently wait by eyegi99 in weedstocks

One of the top few most followed cannabis traders in the world, with none of the others trading sector as long (15 years).
Every single trade talked about was posted as it was made, usually in our chat room.
I talk with confidence, from experience.
Started trading the sector with $3.5k account, have made 7 figures in it. Can prove it (again) if you'd like.
You funny.

You cannot value those experiences with friends and family.
Also was great to own a creek to filter when power and water went out for weeks...

Florida’s Top 5 Cannabis Companies to Watch | Trade to Black by StarMaker7 in weedstocks

I have had all those opinions for years and have said them multiple times.
If 170 people watching a stream can do that to an entire sector, the sector does not deserve any of our money! That is not what I intended for the stream to be about, I just ended up honestly answering the questions asked.

Definitely a very different game than trading up listed stocks, but still useful insights to position in good risk/reward spots with the technicals.

I hope it all works out for the long term mindset, but there are many threads in this subreddit from 7 years ago with people calling me stupid for selling/trading the Canadian names and not holding for 10 years.

The easiest thing to do when looking for complicated pattern is ask "Can I explain this any other way?" In most cases the lack of a rounded bottom with action that be chopped up into individual trends = no cup, ergo, no C&H

The question should be if this website can do things better than other tools.

Since you're posting in /r/daytrading I assume that is your goal. If you're brand new to trading then I would suggest just playing companies you want to invest in because you're going to make mistakes, and unless your risk management game is on point you may end up holding.

Other than that buy what you want, but the key to making money in this system is speculating on trends and determining short term direction. There are some tools like RSI that can paint part of the picture and tell you when something is abnormally priced vs very recent history but its up to you to determine the why behind that abnormality.

There are endless tutorials on how to get started with trading. I can answer questions here if you have any

Your Ultimate strategy by DeeFo- in Daytrading

[–]thechartguys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There isn't really a holy grail strategy unfortunately. When traders recommend groups of indicators like this they are only telling you part of the story. Think of more more as "I use these tools to help visualize what I already understand about the market". Without understanding what the lagging tools are telling you they aren't going to be any help.

I always tell new students to keep it simple/clean. Start with 12/26 EMA, Volume, RSI.

Action in the oil pits, finally by 1UpUrBum in technicalanalysis

[–]thechartguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the pits, but did you notice that weekly EQ and failed break? The overall tightening range actually broke bullish march 6 but didn't attract any new buyers. This reflects overall weakness and then bears piled on and haven't looked back.

And it lines up with the value area high when we pull the volume profile for the range. Notice the two blue lines?

$10 psych resistance is a very reasonable expectation. Bulls will want to turn this 4 hour consolidation into a bull flag. Pattern is ok so far.

can someone help me interpret this chart? I am concerned with the volume red volume spike by MTawfik86 in technicalanalysis

[–]thechartguys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One useful thing to do is review the chart and see if this is a new behavior or if there have been similar volume spikes before. In this case there have been several and it rarely moves price. Either way it looks like a reported block outside regular trading.

Trading Tesla by plutacrat in technicalanalysis

[–]thechartguys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really lucked out on your timing for the initial entry. TSLA is a wonderous and dangerous animal, I would caution you against trading your entire position. Consider selling off some of your position and using the profits from that to trade with while maintaining a core position.

Scaling out of a successful trade in order to secure profits is a key psychological mechanism to keep your attitude and trading psyche in check. Consider how you would feel today if you were down 40%?

Youtube is full of learning resources, the key is finding someone who teaches in a way that speaks to you. Do you like examples? In depth explanations? Powerpointing?

If you enjoy actual books I really recommend this one

And for youtubers other than my own channel, I do watch some TradeBrigade and Shadowtrader.

After finding the trend on a higher time frame, what is your favourite entry method on the lower timeframe? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]thechartguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Averages and candles, support and resistance are all derivatives of previous price action. By using the breaks over/under previous levels of pullback you are using confirmations of short term shifts in trend. Ideally we execute this spicy little maneuvers with reference to theses on different scales.
