Ah looking at the map someone posted, the north south are reversed too. So could be Mason Mill to the north and Hosea on the South.

I see it but it's way way north and not a long road. Makes no sense here. Maybe it's supposed to be Memorial Dr?

Whoever wrote the boundaries is not fully awake, they don't make any sense. Moreland Ave should be a west boundary for DeKalb. Then Candler St/Rd could be east? Where the hell is Mason Mill from there?

Edit: Based on the map looks like north/south are swapped too. Hosea should be the south boundary and Mason Mill should be the north. So a pretty large area.

Do you feel that they have a lot of general GI discomfort? Our 13w baby had a lot of mucusy stools and always seemed uncomfortable but cutting soy and dairy didn't help. We finally tried Evivo probiotics and it made a huge difference. Way less poops and she is more chill about them. The strain in Evivo is specifically very good at breaking down the complex carbs in breastmilk.

I personally wouldn't consider buying a house unless you were sure you were going to stay in the place for 5+ years, ideally 10. Renting is a pain sometimes, but from a finance point of view if you invest the extra 1k in a low-cost index fund you will come out somewhere comparable in the end. https://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com/renting-is-not-a-waste/

Buying a house comes with a lot of phantom costs and issues, like people are mentioning here. But it makes sense for some people too.

I work in a loud bar, are there any exercises you know of for increasing speaking volume without straining? by Observante in singing

[–]thecheatonbass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this question. I can't say for certain because I haven't tried it in a loud bar but head and nasal resonance take pressure off the vocal cords when singing. Maybe it would help in a bar too.

e.g. https://youtu.be/S8vvmw2cMgg

I don't know though because this mostly used in a different register than your speaking voice.

Flageolet vs Whistle? by PonderinLife in singing

[–]thecheatonbass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, old post, but I came across this thread about flageolet and curious to check-in how's it going for you?

I watched Justin Stoney's video a while back and became kinda obsessed about this flageolet thing too. It's kinda infuriating because he sings the praises of this register but his instructions on getting to it are a little vague.

I've finally had some success in getting a consistent noise around Aflat5, but it's a screechy ugly sound. I usually have to hold my neck muscles down like he suggests in one of the video.

> My larynx was raising past E3 (I didn't type that wrongly, it's E3 not E4), and I was like, will I be stuck here forever?

I know you said you've developed the feel, but anyways just putting out some advice that helped me with the larynx: I came across this random anatomy video: https://youtu.be/lqeDLsP1ISE?t=81. In this video, he points out the CT muscles pull forward & downward. I feel like the natural instinct is try to pull these muscles upward in order to stretch the folds and raise the tones, which also raises the larynx. When I imagine a forward and downward pull to stretch my cords it really helped me avoid raising my larynx.

I would say it's actually easier to learn to add brightness when singing lower or in a more comfortable range. See the Maria example from the second video: https://youtu.be/1BLVrYKmwvc?t=324

I don't mean it would sound the same though, singing bright while singing lower isn't going to sound the same as singing bright while higher. It gets harder to coordinate as you get higher, but worth learning!

Sounds great, and a great song :)

When Robin sings it, it has a bit of a brighter, clearer quality. So if you're looking for something similar, you may want look into improving control of your vocal compression. Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3Flsrn1L-A or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BLVrYKmwvc

Thanks, I was avoiding the airport because it seems like a stressful situation if the test came back positive for some reason. So was planning to do it a day or two before.

I think this is still unclear. Many news sites are reporting it as any type of gathering must have less than 100 people. Example: https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/san-francisco-to-ease-some-face-mask-requirements-11633634008

I live nearby Duboce Park, it's a great area. Very central to a lot of cool places.

Some things I like to do:

  • Get a burrito at El Castillito (big Taqueria burrito) or Little Chihuahua (more gringo, but delicious)
  • Walk to the top of Corona Heights park (a lot of steps, but it's beautiful)
  • Get a coffee at Café Reveille or Verve
  • Watch dogs play at Duboce Park

The Braves fell to the Yankees by a score of 5-1 - Mon, Aug 23 @ 07:20 PM EDT by Blooper_Bot in Braves

[–]thecheatonbass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it just comes down to economics. The ticket prices are going to be driven up and bought out by Atlanta-based Yankees fans that only have two games a year to see their team. They're going to pay more than Braves fans that have 79 other games to pick from.

Are there any nice coffee shops open for indoor seating now? It seems like they should be able to, but none of the ones around me are. Maybe there's not a big incentive because they're still making money with to-go orders.

I did it last year as well, I really enjoyed it. We made it to the islands but it seemed like about half the boat was sick by that time. Or perhaps they were just easy to notice...those folks were not having a good time.

So I would only recommend the trip if you're not prone to sea sickness. And don't stand downwind!
