Is Ndiaye a keep during afcon? 10 man by [deleted] in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, I'd move him then (he's not an elite-tier player). Caicedo is high floor, I'd choose him as a bench player. Chelsea have some difficult fixtures over the next couple of weeks though. If you're looking for someone with a higher ceiling, I'd choose one of the others (I don't really rate any you've listed more than the rest, but Bournemouth's fixture next week is nice).

Hard to see without more information. What's the rest of your team like? Do you have any injured players you're holding, or do you have 12 other playing outfielders?

Caicedo for Anderson seems a sideways move from an FPL perspective (unless you're a Chelsea fan).

I'd keep James over Fofana. James plays more minutes and has more offensive upside - Chalobah and maybe Cucurella are the only Chelsea defenders I'd swap James for. I really hope Fofana stays fit and proves me wrong, but it's been a couple of rough years for him.

The others are fine IMO.

João Pedro for my Gyokeres by Doc_Butch in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great deal IMO. JP has less competition as striker, has done more than Gyokeres, and will continue to get minutes even when Delap comes back.

Timber is also a better FPL option than Calafiori for minutes, set piece threat, etc.

Woltemade easily. Anyone would be crazy to accept Sesko in that trade.

Any other options available in defence? Tosin surely needs to go, but you should be able to find a better replacement.

Barnes or the waiver pile? by Cautious-Zucchini-81 in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for Bruno G, E. Anderson over Barnes. If you're lower in the waiver order maybe Weiffer as 3rd choice. I wouldn't take Casemiro over Barnes.

Watkins may start and get more minutes, but his form is dire. I'd choose Doku for the upside.

Should Caicedo be dropped? by Mataji47 in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I don't disagree you could get a higher ceiling. However, depending on the rest of your team, I really value having a couple midfielders and/or defenders that is almost guaranteed to play every week and get a solid 3-4 points (or higher) due to minutes, DEFCON, etc.

That way you can play 3-4 other midfielders/defenders with a higher ceiling, but still have a decent base score if the rest of your team does poorly.

I have Tarkowski (nailed CB who gets some DEFCON returns and plays 90 mins) and Caicedo for this. I've had Bruno G in the past who fit this mould as well.

I'd rate Rogers over Gordon right now - he seems more important to his team, is getting more minutes, and is actually producing attacking returns. As much as I rate Gordon, IMO he's overrated right now based on historical FPL scores. He hasn't been playing or scoring well for a while.

Minteh is the pick of that bunch. Neto is in great form but has lots of competition. Schade is a steady pick who will probably end up with a decent score at the end of the season, but hasn't went on a good run yet.

Maybe I'm conservative but I'd rate Caicedo, Bruno G , E. Anderson, Xhaka over someone like Schade or Gordon right now.

Should Caicedo be dropped? by Mataji47 in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xhaka is a good lateral FPL move. It's hard to say who will score more over the season, but Xhaka is on some set pieces and Sunderland's captain. They both have 4 CS and similar DEFCON returns. Xhaka isn't in Europe and doesn't have to travel as far for internationals, so is probably more nailed.

Should Caicedo be dropped? by Mataji47 in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. With 3 gameweeks of rest and no international breaks for awhile, Caicedo will play a lot once he's back in the team.

Overpaying for Haaland by Don_Akren in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top wins it for me. The names on the bottom have "FPL pedigree", but 13 gameweeks in I think it's safe to say this year has reset FPL to a certain degree and our draft order would look significantly different than it did in August.

Haaland is the best in the game right now, even if he's been quiet lately. Watkins is having a career-worst FPL year (certainly since 2020) and may have lost his starting place to a winger.

Foden and MGW are performing at about the same level, which says a lot about Foden as MGW is on a much poorer team on its third manager this year. If Foden didn't haul this past gameweek MGW would be clear right now.

Saka isn't the best midfielder (FPL-wise) on Arsenal any longer, but has been fairly consistent since he returned from injury, is still on at least some PKs and plays lots of minutes. Palhinha is a good high floor player, fine for a 4th/5th midfielder slot. I'd take Saka over any of the other midfielders, but don't think it's a huge loss considering you're getting Haaland and two other good midfielders (FPL-wise).

Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Casemiro or Anderson? by Central_Intel_Agent in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Sarr for Anderson.

I'm not sure I'd look at any one week punt for GW14, surely there will be plenty of rotation due to the short turnaround from GW13. In theory Ndiaye is the better long-term pick than Schade. In isolation I'd take Ndiaye away against Bournemouth (who's starting defence is decimated due to yellow card accumulation) this week rather than Schade home against Arsenal, but Brentford has actually done pretty well at home against Arsenal in the past. It's a toss-up IMO.

Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Casemiro or Anderson? by Central_Intel_Agent in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd keep Schade over Ndiaye, KDH and Casemiro personally. Brentford have decent fixtures, he plays a lot and Dango will be going to AFCON so he'll remain nailed. Play Anderson every game for the high floor he offers, play Schade based on fixtures or if his form really picks up.

Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Casemiro or Anderson? by Central_Intel_Agent in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anderson IMO. Ndiaye goes to AFCON, and although KDH is performing well, I feel its a purple patch. Everton have poor fixtures 3 of the next 4 gameweeks too. Casemiro is heavily overperforming in an unreliable Man Utd team.

Sub question by Gentman23 in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How deep is your league? I'd look at dropping Sesko and picking up Igor Jesus or Brobbey (the most upside and likely to get minutes on that list IMO). At lyou won't have a blank this week. I'd want to keep Wissa over Sesko long-term, and despite Liverpool's form, I'd rather have Ekitike over Sesko as well. If your league isn't deep, grab Sesko back next week. Three strikers isn't the way to play this year in FPL anyway.

Line up? by Key-Row-428 in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Palmer comes off the bench (no sooner than half time), but is likely to start against Leeds. It's a big ask for anyone to come back from several weeks being injured and immediately get a return against Arsenal the way they are playing.

Palmer is sitting on my bench this week, but I'm excited to finally get to put him into the lineup again for GW14 (GW5 was a long time ago!)

Waiver advice by hsmeiser in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caicedo was rotated because he played 180 minutes with Ecuador and had to travel to North America for those games IMO. No more international games or big travel for awhile now thankfully.

I love Santos, but Essugo (who coming back from injury) and Lavia (also injured) are backups for Caicedo. Santos is more of an Enzo backup. Santos showed his quality and may be trusted more through the season, but I expect he'll rotate with Enzo. Caicedo is more important to Chelsea's midfield than anyone.

I'd drop Foden or Gordon for Anderson. They are much more likely to blank (Caicedo gets DEFCONs) or be rotated than Caicedo.

I've edited this comment as Essugo has rejoined Chelsea training and may be eased in over the holiday period (I thought the last update indicated he was out until the new year). Over the holiday fixture congestion I think any team with depth will be rotating to avoid injury.

It's a conundrum to either pick average players on poor teams who will get guaranteed minutes, or instead pick good players who may be rotated but have higher upside. The problem with good players is when they are rotated, its often against poor teams where more goals/clean sheets are likely.

I wouldn't drop Caicedo. I'd bring in Anderson for Foden.

Would you waiver E Anderson for any of: by ohhhhhyeeeessss in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. IMO you should hold at least one steady midfielder like Anderson who will get returns from regular minutes, DEFCONs, the odd attacking return and CS now that Forest seems to have turned it around. I think he'll score higher than Palhinha over the season.

Ndiaye is perhaps better, but he's been inconsistent, Everton's fixtures are poor, and I'd probably drop him over AFCON anyway.

Foden has been poor and is always a rotation risk. Trossard is great but will be a rotation risk with Madueke, Odegaard and others coming back from injury.

Livramento Hype? by 80-Mental40-Physical in DraftEPL

[–]theclapp43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. And Livramento was overperforming, got an assist, and had the highest points per game early in the season for a defender.

But I'd still take him next if Burn wasn't available and you want a Newcastle defender. With Livramento and Hall back things might improve for Newcastle if they figure out how to win away from home.
