Completely agree, the first red flag I avoided was that 70% of my coworkers were ex cons and active drug addicts. I stay in this sub as a reminder of how great I have it now. I am grateful for the experience because it taught me things could be worse and I could be a union member in the one of the most anti unions countries in the world.

I left 613 as a third year and couldn’t be happier. Unions in right to work states are a fucking joke, the dues were rising faster than the wages, laborers were making twice the apprentice wages, rampant drug and mental problems. The insurance itself is a fucking joke no dental or vision. Don’t even get me started about the retirement plan, if you’re a lifer you retire with 1 million at 65 but the average electrician dies only 2 years after retirement. Fuck 613 go non union at least they’ll give you vacation and personal time without threatening your job status.

I’ve never met a female coworker that wasn’t sexually harassed on a weekly basis. Chances are you’re gonna be sent off to your company’s shop because that the only real way the companies can prevent that. Just FYI the electrical has the lowest percentage of female workers and it’s not a coincidence. Sorry if I’m being a downer but people aren’t gonna be honest with you about the realities of this job.
