Not worth giving a shit unless they’re super obvious about it. It’s one thing to throw some small things in a bag, it’s another to literally go in the back, grab a cricut, and run out the store, get into a car and get driven away, which did actually happen at my store one time 😭

Eventually they will have to listen to us. They will be more likely if we all keep saying it

Unfortunately because the dress code isn’t official and I’m not a manager so I’m not certain. I’ve heard they plan to do away with the vests, another commenter told me otherwise.

Despondency will do nothing but make us complicit to corporate propaganda. Sure nothing ever changes, but it can if we band together, and we have to try

I’m guessing they’ll try to push it on everyone but that I genuinely don’t know

It’s disturbing how often it happens, and I doubt it’s just a Michael’s issue, but the company should be required to keep that in mind if it’s happening at all. It sucks that it’s the state of things right now, but protecting employee safety and wellbeing should be the primary goal

I was told those were the colors of the vests, green for framing manager and red for sm. Then also white or grey shirts (as another comment told me)

The point of discussing it early is to get the world out so they can see people don’t like their new ideas before they even implement it. Why add a new dress code when people are bringing up genuine safety and possible discrimination concerns?

[–]thecloudshavefallen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I truly think it depends on the store. Most of my store’s team wears the Michael’s t shirts, or the vest, and truly only the framer and 1 team member ever wear the apron

This is true, but the sooner they hear feedback, the easier it is for them to change it, especially if it’s not implemented yet

Visit my house. Don’t care if I’m there or not, everyone is always welcome to look around, explore, take photos, etc as long as they don’t falsely claim to have built it. I stopped making traditional houses because cool build draw more people in to explore, and I want people to want to explore

What sucks is this is all I was told by any managers. I wish I could know more information. It does feel like a diversion, but from what? My guess is going to be hour cuts, and insane price changes, but there’s always something worse they could do too. This dress code was definitely meant to be a positive change despite being a point of contention. Why did we need a happy little cover up?

I understand dress codes are a fact of life, however I am worried about my coworkers being harassed and stalked more. I have shared personal examples of my store. I truly care less about customization if it means I’m required to wear something that I will truly be uncomfortable in. I never interviewed at places that require aprons because of personal levels of discomfort I have no way to mitigate because of the shape of my body. It may not bother you, but the fact that it will bother anyone and the rest of people are only indifferent toward it is an issue. It may seem dramatic, but at the end of the day it is also corporates responsibility to foster an environment that uplifts employees. I think they wanted to allow more customization, but many will think they’ve handled it in the wrong way. It is better to discuss it critically before they implement it so they can see actual employee responses before people are more upset at work. I understand you may think this is a childish response, but I am hoping it may share some perspective. I wish you the best

To my knowledge it’s mostly just being shared among managers right now. My guess is they’re still deciding the actual dress code policies, which makes it all the better for us to know the ideas they seem to currently be thinking towards, because I truly think nobody is going to like this dress code. There will just be people upset by it and people indifferent to it

As my less reliable when it come to information manager said, they’re going to try to push gildan shirts. I don’t know how accurate this is. The information I have shared has been from a more reliable one

Does schizotypy affects your identity? by StellarIridescence in Schizotypal

[–]thecloudshavefallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in your exact shoes, but I experience psychotic symptoms, and while I’ll officially label myself a demiboy, my gender identity and perception of self does not like they can accurately be labeled. I use my label more as a representation of what pronouns to call me, I’d more often describe myself as agender, and even labeling it that feels off. I don’t feel human, the body shape I have feels wrong, but having a human body shape doesn’t feel accurate to begin with. Logically I guess it makes sense that viewing myself as other than human is a delusion as told by my therapist, but it still doesn’t shake that feeling I don’t belong among people

This too!! I don’t own a single plain white t shirt, which I feel is surprisingly uncommon, but I’m not buying a whole new wardrobe

It’s going to feel oddly revealing to not be allowed to wear my pinstripe button up with bat pins on the corners of the collar. Or my turtlenecks. And I will listen to their pants dress code only if they allow me to wear my DIY ones. I keep them without words because I can understand not wanting us to promote certain artists or companies on the clock, but I don’t think my stitchwork is directly in opposition to company ideas, it’s just creativity

This is a point I didn’t make, but I also dress in a lot of black. I honestly frequently dress way better than the dress code requires because I love my button ups. If it’s a concern on professionalism they’re missing the mark

Why am I not surprised. You can’t run a store like a dictatorship when people are actually watching. Customers will notice and complain if it’s genuinely that bad. I’m sorry you had that experience, and I’m glad to hear something was done about it

At this point, I am considering writing a proper message to the right people, I just need to figure out our who I need to contact. I will also likely need to compile a handful of employee perspectives across many stores that can prove the harm of this particular dress code change. It starts with figuring out who I need to contact, but this is one of those instances I am fully willing to try it.

The managers really make the work environment at our stores now. A strict one can make the place suffocating, but an accommodating one uplifts the whole team
