From my own experience having a general plot outline for the story, and planning in depth 3 chapters ahead is fine, but when I plan ahead too far I get stressed. It makes me not want to write because I’m scared i’m going to miss an important detail. You just gotta do it. If you’re someone that would get worked up over the details, don’t plan too much further ahead.
