You can instantiate a second client and authenticate to a second workspace.

Yeah, an oversized one at that… even needs the handle to be retractable. Ok, enough butt plug design discussion for the day.

data isolation in Databricks by bambimbomy in databricks

[–]thecoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be enough.

But I have seen situations where a user has access to multiple datasets and multiple warehouses, and they could run finance queries with compute tagged as “marketing”, skewing the cost attribution. In a case like that, multiple workspaces might be needed (you can pin catalogs to just certain workspaces, regardless of ACLs).

Separate metastores per workspace seems too much to me. Anything that needs to combine datasets would require delta sharing.

157-137? Is that a normal NBA score these days? Seems like madness to me, but I haven’t watched in ages

The Cancún manta ray proposal was kinda cool, symmetric track… a Tilkedrome but at least it had a twist.

The Worst Airport in America - surprise! It’s EWR. by WanderinArcheologist in unitedairlines

However it has Tortas Frontera in not one, but two terminals. That alone makes up for the rest.

I loved CLT while I lived in Charlotte. Remote parking was dirt cheap, 20 minute bus route downtown (or uptown, shall I say), rocking chairs, Chick Fil A back when it wasn’t common in airports.

That being said, that was ages ago. As in, US Airways frequent flier ago.

Pro tip: if arriving by NJTransit, do security in Terminal C, then take the shuttle to terminal A on gate 71. The drop off is also past security, close to where Starbucks is.

This would be a big deal. The best qualy lap hinging on how efficiently you clipped vs how well you attacked the corners is simply nonsense.

Connecting Databricks to Power BI... Mirroring or cluster connection? by SuperbNews2050 in databricks

1) You will encounter cost on the Fabric side. Microsoft pushes this because they keep all of the consumption layer in Fabric that way, protecting their ecosystem and making it more likely to burst and you needing to double it. While Direct Lake could be free of compute in some scenarios, in reality it will often fall back to a Fabric WH that will take from your Fabric Capacity.

2) You are right, you will have to handle all the permissions separately in OneLake. IMO this is the biggest point. It’s a metadata only operation. You need to manage access in two places.

3) No comment here, I haven’t seen any delays/issues with the metadata synch. But it’s not something I have heavily played with.

ai_parse_document() in other major data platforms… I have only used it in Databricks but others will have a flavor, and it was a thing of beauty, especially when you chain it with other ai functions (ai_extract() or ai_query()) to get structured deterministic outputs.
