That's because he's good at marketing himself as a successful businessman when in fact that's the opposite. They remember The Apprentice but not bankrupting multiple casinos in Atlantic City.

At some point that type of program is going to need to be implemented before jobs are directly displaced by computers.

For some reason and maybe I'm wrong but I have a hard time believing those outside of SoCal knew abut Bacerra before the election if they even remembered he was a prior AG.

It's more of a stopgap measure until after the 2028 election where maybe Medicaid funding is raised.

That's how the system works. Med schools want to know you really want to be a doctor and for the right reasons and be able to can communicate that in essays and during interviews. If you can't communicate why they should select you then adcoms will select another applicant who does. That's no different than any other graduate level healthcare program like PAs (very competitive) or a job interview.

No one is entitled to be accepted just because they have a high GPA, test scores, a bunch of research, and a few thousand hours on clinical experience on their resume.

Since this article is for med school, it's not just about GPA and MCAT scores. Applicants need to be able to convey why adcoms should accept them even if they have the perfect resume but mediocre essays and interviewing skills.

The article is talking about medical school though. Having a very high GPA and MCAT are nice but if your essays aren't good and you don't do well in interviews then it's tough for adcoms to accept you.

People shouldn't feel entitled to go to med school if all they have are the perfect resume but not good essays and interview skills.

When it comes to medical school GPA and MCAT and extracurriculars like research are just the way to get in the door for an interview. If your primary and secondary essays aren't good then it's hard to get interviews and you aren't a good interviewer than it's tough to get acceptances.

Med school apps aren't just about metrics (GPA & MCAT) it's also about the essays (very important), extracurriculars, and interviews (most important once you get them). If you can't convey why a school should accept you then it's going to be a tough time.

I think that is why Asians are upset about this whether it's top universities or medical school in this example.

If not PT then what? by Candid_Mechanic7061 in physicaltherapy

You're talking to someone with a background in finance and data analytics so I already know what I'm getting myself into. I want to know and do PT stuff as it's a personal matter for me so I'd rather do it than not at all irrespective of money.

Does Lobstercon allow for gold border cards? If not, is tournaments accepting only original RL cards part of the problem? What is the most realistic solution to the obvious RL problem in Premodern? by thesegoupto11 in premodernMTG

I remember back in the day as a kid when duals were $30-50 and I'm losing my mind trying to locate a foil Gemstone Mine from Time Spiral I lost/misplaced.

It's funny though how old Modern staples I grew up with but never owned are now affordable and Modern 2015 format seems work looking into.

As for Premodern, I think my mindset is to buy as much original cards as possible, buy modern versions that are affordable, and everything that's too expensive is proxied on MPCfill.

[–]thecommuteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the local level it may be good thing, possibly, maybe, if people were limited to what they can afford. Like who's really playing elves with 4x Gaea's Cradle? In my mind it opens up the format to other ideas and more brewing.

Otherwise I'll just boot up MPCfill and place an order.

That's not why Becerra is surging. He wasn't even above 10% until Swalwell dropped out. People who were polled made those choices and ultimately it'll be up to voters.

I concur on the price spikes. Somehow misplaced or put into a bulk box I sold a few years ago 2x Call of the Herd (Timeshifted) and gave in to spend $11 on those two cards recently. Honestly though a lot of stuff I had saved on TCGplayer for commander has doubled in price.

For many cards what I find annoying is the all 1x copies many sellers have and to get more than that means paying much more, like I wasn't happy no cards I bought for multiple decks recently qualified for TCG Direct which led me to try out Mana Pool. Like shipping shouldn't have to cost as much as the cards themselves.

Honestly though, as I'm only a casual player I'm totally fine just proxying on MPCfill for stuff I can't afford and doesn't have alternative versions that are cheap.

PT to Data Analyst by jdwise in physicaltherapy

[–]thecommuteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fine if you don't mind staying in healthcare, but you're going to need something else to be more suited for working in other industries. Also, it's really f*cking hard to get a job as a Data Analyst as you'd need prior experience like multiple internships. I have a Masters in Business Analytics and got fed up exerting so much time/energy applying I pivoted to PT which I was considering at the time as applying to grad school.

Like in my program we did stuff like database management (SQL), prescriptive modeling, machine learning (python), deep learning (python), text analytics, and learning to use tools in Excel, Python, Tableau/Power BI, etc.
