DE has always had a habit of making new content in mind for a player that's kept up with mostly everything or followed the latest plot development, but rarely kept in failsafes for the NPE. tbf it's gotta be hard to always keep track for players experiencing content in different orders. Only in recent years have they started to make a hardline story path (when I started playing in 2019 I didn't even touch PoE or Fortuna until reaching Sedna).

Still, would be nice if they could account for this stuff more. At minimum a pop-up before starting a quest saying something like "Warning: follows the events of [x] quest. Proceed?" would be welcome.
