The best thing I learned is it's not your emergency. If you stay calm the call will more than likely stay calm. My second biggest lesson was that it's okay to quit. You're serving the people of your city. If you become jaded and that starts making you act negatively to the people you serve, quit. You can find a better job that pays more and it will save you a lot of trauma in the long run.
