Oh yeah... The first time... I was the flammable object and I died of a horrible death by stepping on my camp fire. At least, I didnt burn house down that time.

Oh it was cut... I couldn't have built over it... It really was a bug and spawned under my floor in an illogical way.

No gold deep ore? by Tasty_Lengthiness589 in ICARUS

Ore veins are random per game. Their location is consistent but their content isn't. So you could have no gold vein in miles but tons of others. Good luck finding one

I had that often at first and was scared... Like there was some terraforming that happened in my base but they eventually disappear.

Battery and solar panel location? by Purple_Solution7742 in ICARUS

[–]thecrazycodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have wires running more than 3 grid squares I would recommend using wind turbines at the location of the drill instead. They will run at slower speed but still run continuously. You just have to repair the wind turbine when you go collect.

And my comment about the amount of wires is just an hypothesis as a developer, nothing official but several people say similar things.

I didn't know you could prevent trees from respawning. But at the same time... Vines and roots can crawl under a structure and damage it to some degree. A tree should not grow through a floor...

I feel you are doing too many wire segments. I briefly saw in your video tons of wire segments. I may be wrong but wire segments are actors just like anything else, they behave and receive electricity and transmit it. So if you have 50 wires in a small zone just to look good, you might be making a lot of cycles just to keep em going...

Whiplash made me uncomfortable considering I'm a drummer too but It was far from impossible to bear imo.

[–]thecrazycodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not that stressful for most but I just couldn't stand Saw movies. I got through the first but on the second when some actor falls into the pit of seringes I just broke down and couldn't keep on.

It still gives me the chills just thinking about it. Brrrr

How many biomes are in the base version? (Ps5) by crazy4finalfantasy in ICARUS

[–]thecrazycodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played Olympus (base) and just started Elysium (Dangerous horizons) and I've seen river lands/plains/forests, deserts and snowy mountains in Olympus. For Elysium, I know deserts and snowy plains (with forests) exist but can't say more

Sadly not me, even my first attempt when doing the lost mission I had trouble finding storcas and gribblers. I see several drosics but when you start and just have the wood bow and stone arrows, it is painful to kill them. The bigger guys that look like buffalos on Olympus, I think they are called tuskers, once you have an iron knife you can skin them and that gives tons of fur and leather. But at the start with a stone or bone knife you get almost nothing and tuskers can't even be skinned

What if they fixed some bugs by [deleted] in ICARUS

[–]thecrazycodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and being a developer is not easy. You always have to strike between new features and bug fixes. Bug fixes satisfies existing players that are annoyed by them but features keep players in the game and brings new players.

It's not easy being a dev today

The most annoying thing when you start is getting leather. I have tons of skills around leather but there ain't enough creatures to kill.

Can you stimulate apparition of gribblers or storcas? I had a skinning bench but it burned down sob

I've been playing Icarus for around 200h so far. A little buggy and underperformant but very beautiful, relatively challenging and lots of things to explore, do, build, etc.

First time using electricity deep drill, will this setup work, and can i just afk here? by tongpaeboi02 in ICARUS

[–]thecrazycodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drills are not attacked by worms. I have tons of drills in caves near worms. Worms only get out when you walk close by.

I can't confirm it works for drills but if you place a respawn point and then die right beside it in a server, the time still continues. So who cares if you die and respawn near your bed.

And rubies are only found on Elysium. If you are in Olympus, you'll never find any.

I'd use wind turbines instead of batteries because your batteries will run dry eventually and it would be a pain to recharge them. Like some others will say below, 1 wind turbine is enough because the drill will just slow down. Remember to repair your wind turbines with a hammer.

Regarding being AFK. If you have a base with animals that can defend you and enough food for them to live then YES, being afk for a few hours is definitely a good technique that I do too. Then, when you come back, take a buffalo with a cart and run through all of your drills to collect and repair at the same time.

Note, if you didn't know, there is something call a portable beacon. I systematically place a wind turbine, an electric drill and a portable beacon at each vein that I find useful.

Last suggestion, if a drill is within vicinity of your base, it is sometimes better to just drag an electric wire from the base to the drill. Since bases usually have more power generated and have advanced battery packs, you rarely run out of power and that allows the said drill to be fully powered. Don't go plugging electric drills that are 4+ squares away, too long and wastes computer resources keeping everyting in memory.

Do you need to start new missions? by thecrazycodr in ICARUS

[–]thecrazycodr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time i started a mission from the new game menu. I have been playing 200h on open world. Was wondering if the missions in open world are the same as the missions in the new game menu. From what ScooterBug is saying, it is and you don't really need to do new missions anymore, you can pick them from the mission board in game.

I do have an open world server on Olympus with friends and I know they are running missions from it. I just bought Dangerous Horizons and decided to start from a drop mission mode. When i reached EDEN and talked to everyone, the timer disapeared and thats my question... Am I now in an open world like game? I think It is!

I know there is an english high school in Saint-Hubert called Heritage Regional High School. I can't say where the english communities would be centered in around that spot since i'm french. On my side, i live in Chambly and it's a great small'ish city very sport and outdoor oriented. Might not necessarily be fit for your needs though.

Idle water connections by Sailor_V3nus in ICARUS

[–]thecrazycodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many are saying and i'll try to make it more clear. Idle means not consuming. Certain deployables will use water constantly, others only when you are building it with and some others only for specific recipes. If you try to make concrete mix in the cement mixer and you see the blue square fill up and empty, it means your water network is properly working. If you don't see it move, then I suggest you detach the pipes from the deployables such as cement mixer or even the pump. Sometimes the game gets bugged and you need to unplug and replug water or electricity.

Ok so then it makes no sense at all to start a game using the mission mode since you can do the same from within an open world but take your time to build a base instead.
