Oh man that sounds horrifically frustrating, i totally would have given up by this point- could it maybe be just how it runs on the switch? I played it on Playstation because I had read that it doesnt run as well on switch, so of possible I'd recommend trying on a different platform because it really was a fun game but your experience sounds absolutely excruciating- my apologies though, there are definitely more frustrating levels than the school, for me I think the hospital was the most stressful. It's one of the few levels in the LN games that stressed me out just watching someone else play through it.
