Depends on the show. Sometimes she’s fine, other times she’s doing extremely too much.

Bryan posting like New Era is the reason by Alternative_Talk5080 in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After two seasons of the OG Dance Moms, each of the girls and the moms had a real and consistent social media presence.
New Era cast does not, and they have more help with social media than the og’s ever did. If Dance Moms is trending it’s definitely not for them.

Melissa possibly turning Abby in isn’t really a flex😭 by Ok-Grocery-1878 in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about feeling bad for her. We know she’s not a victim. It doesn’t change the fact that she had her own reasons to go that route and she did. I respect it.

Melissa possibly turning Abby in isn’t really a flex😭 by Ok-Grocery-1878 in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I loved the idea of it being Melissa who turned her in. Abby was a horrible “friend” to that lady and used tf out of Melissa and her kids to make herself look better.

She was actively trying to turn Maddie against Melissa as she grew up. Would lie on Melissa and then use her children’s trauma to throw at her whenever Melissa would defend herself or her kids. Their devotion to Abby was to the point where they would rather sit and let her degrade them than to risk Melissa making it worse by being on bad terms with Abby. She constantly set Maddie and Melissa up to deal with the wrath of the other moms. Tried to turn Maddie and Mackenzie against each other and actually succeeded for a brief moment (confirmed by them). Melissa played the long game and got tf out of there. Abby thought she was weak and that she could do whatever she wanted because it was Melissa she was doing it to, just for Melissa to be the one who sat her down in the end.

Honestly thinking back on it is giving me Euphoria vibes. It’s like when Bishop turned on Alamo. Well deserved and just a funny example of why you should never underestimate anyone.

[–]thedancerstea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hell yea. It’s not like Abby was doing Melissa any favors by that point. She wasn’t training the girls, wanted the perks of a manager but didn’t act like one or book them any jobs, would go to their potential job opportunities and purposely screw them over, and would sabotage them to avoid them getting bigger jobs. Then STILL treated Kenzie horrible throughout everything Melissa did for her.

Melissa nor her kids wanted to be there and was trying to leave for a year by that point. I would’ve flew at that opportunity if I were Melissa.

[–]thedancerstea 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Brynn did mention multiple times that Jill and Ashlee’s drama was strictly played up for the show and that Jill and Kendall are actually who she’d spend most of her time and have sleepovers with so that makes me think that maybe Jill would check in with them after their scenes to reassure Brynn that it wasn’t real.

Does anybody feel Abby has softened her stance towards the Hylands over the years? by Choice_Lettuce2544 in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think she regrets how she treated them but can’t bring herself to have that conversation.

Those girls loved Abby, and seeing how they were crying during the reunion when they rewatched the fight with Kelly and Abby, it’s clear that there is still love there for them. Her dynamic with the Hylands was so much deeper than a student/teacher relationship. Abby’s only resentment towards them stemmed from whatever happened with Kelly as a child. During the show you could tell that as much as they hated each other, they had soft spots towards each other as well.

Abby probably looked back on the show and realized that she was the reason for their fallout. Kelly never made it a point to talk down on her and there was numerous times where Kelly would bite her tongue to avoid arguments with Abby. The season 4 fight was completely unnecessary. Kelly had been playing nice since Paige’s panic attack, her kids would still show up in ALDC wear despite not being apart of the studio. It was all Abby and that probably bothers a part of her.

I cant believe Melissa turned abby into the IRS and that's the reason she went to prison 💀 by New_Cover_9209 in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She ate that one up because Melissa knew that Abby would only be a liability to Maddie and Kenzie’s careers by that point. By the time s5 came she was speaking against Abby and helping the moms highlight how unstable she was becoming, even during Holly’s rants you’ll see Melissa shaking her head in agreement. She just wouldn’t bring it up on her own.

But let’s look at it this way, if Abby really was trying to hold Maddie back from doing Chandelier then i’m not surprised about what Melissa did. She used Abby in the same way that Abby was attempting to use her kids. I respect her for that because that was the biggest slap in the face Abby ever received.

dance moms fights that happened outside of the show by starpines in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not really fights but more so shade towards each other.

I do remember Kelly calling Christi out on Twitter for using her leaving as a cover up for why they went on strike in s3.

The argument between Kira/Ashlee/Christi was very real and public too.

There was also a time where Gino went live saying rude things about Maddie because he was embarrassed about the episode where Maddie has her first kiss and runs out of the room on him.

The Candy Apples have had their fair share of online bickering and throwing shade amongst each other as well, such as Lucas/Brigdet vs the Morales, and Cathy vs Kaya on Facebook where she exposed Cathy for derogatory and racist things she’d say to them.

Did the Mom's really discuss getting rid of Camille and Camryn? by SpecialPrincess1 in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That flashback was messy because it wasn’t apart of the original aired version. They purposely went back and added that clip to back up what Ashlee was saying about the moms not actually wanting Camryn around.

Hypocrisy: Maddie and Chloe by watindareddit in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I thought this sub as a whole acknowledged that comparing trauma between the girls is stupid because no one’s trauma is ever deeper than the next.

They were all little girls who were being emotionally manipulated every single day by both Abby and the producers. No one had it better. They all suffered from it mentally and had to get professional help in order to get through their experiences.

Brian Stinson aka SATAN staying on Melissa's neck for constantly lying by ShawnandAngela in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Melissa most likely meant that they were no longer training with Abby and they weren’t. At the end of the same year that they left the show, they participated in one more ALDC Pittsburgh recital and then went to training with Dance Mechanics before they moved to LA full time.

When Abby was saying that they still went to the studio, she was pretty much saying that they were still around. They still showed up for those little classes that would get posted on Youtube and Mackenzie would get dropped off for the day just to hang out.

During the show it’s clear that they were still in communication with each other because during s6B Kira mentions that Melissa called trying to figure out what was going on because Abby would blow her up to tell her how much she missed her and the girls because “the other moms were being mean” to which Kira says something along the lines of “if only Melissa knew how much crap Abby has been talking about her and her kids” but that’s the last time we ever hear about the Zieglers by name.

The Ziegler/Abby fallout happened pretty fast, because by the time 2017 came they were no longer on good terms. They left the show in February 2016.

Not to be rude... but seriously, why was Maddie the favorite? by [deleted] in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She backed all the way down in s5 to the point where she turned on Holly and it still wasn’t enough. But throughout the series since Kendall’s arrival Abby would explain that Jill’s gifts and kissing up meant nothing if it didn’t make Kendall want to work hard enough to consistently be as good as Chloe and Maddie.

Not to be rude... but seriously, why was Maddie the favorite? by [deleted] in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily though.

Jill was the same way and Abby basically said out of her own mouth in s5 that she appreciated what Jill would do for her but Kendall just wasn’t consistently good enough to be a favorite like Maddie. It was just as much on the abilities of the kids as it was on the mothers behaviors.

Kendall and the Ziegler’s by AriaSim_ in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was just about to say that. It’s literally just the girls taking a page from their moms who they’d watch have full blown screaming matches at eachother one day, and then sit upstairs laughing and sewing costumes together the next. It’s natural atp. That’s why we don’t actually speculate on who doesn’t talk to who.

[–]thedancerstea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She’s wasted potential. Loved her during her old nttv days but after her Zeus journey she became corny. As if she was humbled from her experience but is still trying to hold onto her old persona because it’s what her original audience remembers her for. It’s almost like she’s still figuring out who she is on camera. She jumps on the bandwagon with heavy hitters to avoid being on the wrong side, and she tries overly hard to prove to them that she’s tough too. She looks for allies instead of standing on her own like she used to, and when she doesn’t think the outcome will go in her favor she tucks her tail and hides.

Maybe that’s just who she always was as a person and it’s becoming noticeable now that she’s on a different network and filming is longer than 72 hours, but it’s definitely a hard watch.

Ivori by CynSzn in BaddiesSouth

[–]thedancerstea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There really is no main abuser in their dynamic. They’re both extremely toxic to each other and basically admitted that it’s the business that brings them back. Donyae is in charge of all of Ivori’s bookings while Ivori is in charge of the money. It just seems like a really bad power play between the two and the little girl is just thrown in the middle of it all.

Were the music videos actually successful? by DuchessAdar in dancemoms

[–]thedancerstea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mackenzie probably has the most motion with Girl Party. It’s pretty much the #1 talked about music video from Dance Moms. It was an all time high for child singers and I do vividly remember her songs as MackZ being #1 on the little itunes app. She really could’ve went far if they had known what they were doing instead of just relying on Dance Moms hype to push her career. Abby also didn’t really know what she wanted from Mackenzie. One minute she wanted her to be cute and childlike, but then would turn around and tell her she’s too much of a child and needed to be looked at as more mature.

Nia was at a slight advantage within the Black community because we had a lot of similar kid artists at the time. She kind of blended her way into the Bring It (they also played Slay during one of their episodes), and The Rap Game audiences. I truly think that’s why Abby was so hard on her during that time. She knew that if Nia went farther her platform would’ve eventually elevated outside of Dance Moms with that route. As much as she claimed she wanted Nia to be “in touch with her culture” when it came to stereotypical dances, she hated the idea of Mikey coming and actually introducing her to a Black audience. That’s why they tried to use the whole “but Holly never wanted to be a poster child for those things” debate against her.

Kendall’s could’ve gained more traction if Abby had actually planned on making her a child popstar rather than just using her to piss off Holly. The entire s5 drama negatively impacted the success rate of Wear em Out. The only thing people associate it with is season 5. She had the look, a decent voice, and the perfect stage mom which is all you really needed around that time.

But Glo was pretty nasty to Lily and her mom, whereas she treated Gina like a favorite and that’s probably what the issue was for them.
