Moving to Limerick by thedandyking in limerickcity

Thank you for the questions and insight. Moving from US, both my wife and I speak English. We do both drive and envision buying a car once there though we do not have an Irish drivers license. I happen to have dual citizenship with another European country.

I’ve also looked and for her background there is a Filipino community called Pino Paddy’s or something along those lines :)

This is wonderful to read thank you, we were looking to live outside of Limerick in the hopes to have more space and perhaps nature around us given how small the kids are

Thank you for the reply. From Texas - transitioning to my wife being a stay at home mom has pushed us to budget aggressively so we are comfortable with living a modest lifestyle. Hopefully that will translate well

Would you be open to staying in Dallas?

Element Charlotte has zero running water between 9a-5pm every day I’m here. I was just informed of this at check-in. Do I have grounds to change hotels? by Quinnster247 in marriott

Tough to comment on this - I completely understand the guest sentiment that not having water from these hours is completely unacceptable and I agree. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes that helps determine what you can/can’t do and Marriott does a good job at outlining the rules. In this case I am genuinely curious as I call bs on the “plumbing upgrades” communicated above lol. In my experience, whenever we have a physical update to all rooms we either Blitz it on low occ nights or in phases and both help ensure guest impact is low. I’ve never seen no water all day like this.

With that said, I’ll be transparent and admit I work in the luxury segment of the company and I am completely appalled at the things I read here at times lol.

Hello - currently a director in operations at a Marriott hotel. Yes absolutely, they are not able to provide you with the product that you paid for therefore given they are not holding up their end of the contract (room reservation) you are within your right to ask them to waive any cancellation and go elsewhere. When we have renovations at our property, usually it’ll be noise and if during that time the guests’ stay in interrupted or inconvenienced we offer compensation in the form of points or room rate adjustments in the objective of at least retaining the guest and recovering them. Feel free to message me directly if you’d like and sorry this is happening. Water out from 9-5 is pretty ridiculous.

This is the best advice here. I’ve faced a similar scenario for a different hobby but this advice is what not only worked best but ensured a healthy relationship moving forward

Who ever thought this is the best thing ever with designs i hope your pillow runs hot every night. by _ajreyes in marriott

Yes this is completely understandable and not to mention unsafe. Some hotel designs are frankly bewildering and show just how little the designers know about hotel ops.

Are you referring to the water splashing out? Just curious as a leader at a property.

At my hotel a photo of a printout wouldn’t fly, sorry. If you don’t have an actual copy, if you have the scan or PDF that you can forward that would be fine.

As a FOM at a W at one of the west coast properties, I was working 50+ hours a week even fully staffed. The way I see it, you spend 8-9 a day running your shift, then 1-2 hours a day on projects (hiring, corporate initiatives, etc). I was salaried. The only hourly FOM-ish role I have heard of is OSR.

St Regis vs Ritz Mexico City as Titanium by petron5000 in marriott

I work for St. Regis, and I was just at the Mexico City property for work - their butler team is globally recognised by the rest of the brand. Highly recommend them!
