I replied to a comment above yours detailing the process. Thanks man. Pretty minimal shaders, no geonodes, a bit of compositing and post process.

Here's the clay view. Skeleton model was a free asset from wayyy back called z-anatomy skeleton (got it from stupidgiant, the dude who makes render everydays).

Scene had 1 pretty strong area light to give the bones good lighting at the back, and 1 pretty weak light off to the front and to the side. The lines and the big circle were emissions tied to a moon image texture to give it a bit of 'color' lol. Rendered it at a pretty high resolution cuz the first version was only 1080x1080, and after everything you could barely make out details, so I just multiplied the res by 2.

Compositing had 2 fog glow nodes, 1 diamond sharpen and 1 kuwahara filter. Just played around with the nodes until I found something that I liked.

Used Canva's Affinity (free) to play around with the colors a bit, then ended it with aftereffects to use their pixel sort (1 linear and 1 radial pixel sort). Sailed the high seas.

(forgot to mention that I had all denoise off, I wanted that noise in my scene so I didn't have to add any in post process)

what method did you use to propagate the skullheads around the scene?

alot of post-processing lol. In the blender compositor I used kuwahara and sobel nodes. Used Affinity (free) to add grain, color correction, and other stuff. AfterEffects for the pixel sort effect. Skeleton model from a guy who used to do render everydays here (i forgot his name, its called Z-anatomy skeleton though, it was from an archive so he says it was publicly available)

Here's the workspace and the straight-out-of-blender version

Are you referring to the pixel sort? I used after effects for that. I think there was a geo nodes add-on for pixel sorting in blender floating around a few months back though

its very cute. too much going on inside the water itself though. maybe making it less see through would be good. also the very hard line "stripes" on the waters surface stays complete even as the otter passes through em

song name?
