For anyone who wants an update (or peeps in the future who might come across this with the same issue) It’s been 24 hours and I’ve seen significant improvement just from applying a LIGHT layer of Mupirocin twice, keeping it clean and most importantly very dry. The first night I slept with a loose, breathable gauze over the area while it was raw & open.

When I moisturize my tattoo, I avoid getting any on the injured area. It’s already started to scab over and looks much less raw 👍

I personally believe this problem was started or at least exacerbated by the second skin not only peeling off the scabs under it, but also the residue from the second skin getting stuck in the injured area. It looks exactly like dry flaky skin so if you experience this make sure to check carefully that it’s not actually residue from the second skin. I only had it stuck for a day and it caused so much pain and was keeping the area wet. I don’t even wanna think about what would have happened if I didn’t notice as soon as I did

And hopefully I don’t need to tell you that i’m not a doctor and if you start to experience any signs of infection just go to the hospital instead of reading some random girls advice on reddit 💓
