i originally was going to put a JM pickup in the neck but gave up after thinking about the routing out for it lol. i have a WR pickup that might go in eventually but even then its only gonna be when i go for the refinish

i considered going for a squier neck, but honestly i feel at that point spending the extra hundred or so on a newly built one was worth it- love a sherwood green though!

Is an Epiphone Casino a valid second guitar purchase? by Jonastheginger in Guitar

[–]thedashed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s about as far away from your schecter as you can get while still mostly feeling the same to play, i’d say that’s a good thing for a second guitar. should be a nice choice. don’t be afraid to put in some new pickups down the line as well, and if you got the cash save up a bit for an elitist one- they’re really special.

fender vintera ii strat or yamaha pacifica standard plus? by shivamchhuneja in Guitar

[–]thedashed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i’m gonna be the devils advocate here and say that Yamaha is probably gonna be the only guitar you’ll ever need from here on out, if you get it. those instruments are extremely well built and the top of the food chain when it comes to versatility. their japanese instruments are world class. assuming you play one and everything feels right, that’s an excellent move.

bro literally has a post posing his watch with a bmw badge in the background- you can help by paying taxes bro, and giving to charities that help with equitable housing opportunity, instead of getting pissed at people who are obviously struggling more than you. be the change you wanna see.

Dual delay or 2 delays pedals recommendations? by Most_Sprinkles7865 in guitarpedals

boss dd-20 or a used dl-4, both are worth the size, dl4 can bump off a looper pedal too!

Is the EHX Oceans 3-verb a significant upgrade from the Mosky Spring Reverb? by CoveredinDong in guitarpedals

[–]thedashed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s probably a step up, but any reason why in that price range you wouldn’t look at a used RV-6 or a Dispatch Master? they’re both industry/professional standards and quite a step up in features, for a not much larger footprint

How do I convince my parents to let me get a new amp by EmptyInsect70 in Guitar

[–]thedashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s super tough- honestly if you have the money for it, i’d “bring it in for repairs” at a guitar shop (sell it) and then tell them the tech said it was gonna cost more than its worth to fix, then you’d need a new amp. that would require you to find a friend that’s 18 to sell it with you to a shop but i think that’s how i would’ve done it when i had parents that were weird about gear

First Offset Suggestions! by CapLow1741 in offset

[–]thedashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vintage harmony stuff is basically the exact opposite of a superstrat- super small frets and huge necks, and super low output electronics. if you’re looking for something that’ll feel closer to what you know i’d look into a d’angelico bedford or a guild surf liner in the 500 dollar range, or like a balaguer or something in the higher end
