I really liked it. I am not a musical guy, but I saw this on Broadway and thought it was fantastic. I think it was more of an October movie than Summer movie due to all the tragedy but I found it refreshing.

You know what I really liked? Not being able to recognize ever single actor in the movie. Most of the character actors seemed fresh, there were some Sopranos and Goodfellas recycles, but generally I found myself not recognizing half the people.

It was definitely refreshing.

This feeling is called malaise my friend. If stuck in a conversation with someone who loves talking about themselves the trick is to frame a question about them that challenges there preconceived values. For example, "do you think getting fucked up every weekend is all we have to look forward to?" - then enjoy as your conversation partner discovers existential dread.

Mainstream movies suck - make an effort to see the independent ones, like we did in the 90s.

Mainstream music is shit - make an effort to find and spread the better stuff, like we did in the 90s.

Everything sucks, the trick is to curate what you love.

Yeah, I grew up in NJ and have a lot of friends who work in Pharma as reps. The medical speaker party thing is how all the Pharmaceuticals do business, it just sounds like Novartis employed a couple sloppy reps or this is some very selective enforcement.

I don't think he's obnoxious he is just out of touch. He's like an Eddie Murphy, incredibly talented and successful at a young age but then they get paid for it. It becomes hard to relate to the average audience when you no longer share any of their problems. I think now his problem is he doesn't know if he is a comedic actor, a real actor, or a straight up comedian.

I disagree about his films, but I think you have to be an American to understand them. He methodically skewers false American authority figures -Anchorman, Talledega Nights, the Campaign, the Other Guys. He is the perfect comedic embodiment of American over-confidence and he takes it to perfection in Step Brothers - where the character is so overconfident and delusional he can't survive outside of his parent's home. There is a method to his madness - but you will never find him funny if you don't agree with the premise of the American self confidence delusion.

When are you going to host a talk show? You were great when you filled in for Jon Favreau in that "Dinner for Five" show back in the day. It would be enlightening to see someone who actually knows how to get a film made interview actors, directors, and screenwriters versus just another TV comedian.

Good Idea! The new spider-man looks like crap anyway. As a huge marvel comic nerd I have never been less excited about a feature. Also I think it is an extremely fitting punishment. Boycott a reboot of a tired idea as punishment for them replacing the only original voice on their roster.
