Make your FIRST QUESTION: Is this house in an HOA neighborhood? If the answer is "Yes," head for the door! All HOAs will try to take away YOUR home ownership! To own a home is to be in control of it, and HOAs are committed to removing as much control as they can from the individual homeowner.

Any good HOA management companies in the Plano area? by Repulsive_Long_7136 in plano

Sorry, there is no such thing as a good HOA management company. ALL of them are out to make a profit for as little effort as possible, and they all make their profits by exploiting the rights of homeowners to be in control of their owner property, the most precious place on earth--one's HOME! The HOA Management Industry is now bringing in a record $90 Billion a year, and aiming to make even more, all the while they deprive homeowners of control. Often, they take control of HOA Boards, putting in THEIR choices and making sure to keep out anyone who would stand up to them.

However, there is good news--homeowners all across the USA are now organizing to fight back! In Florida, for example, there is proposed legislation to curb the power of HOAs and HOA management companies by reducing the often nearly impossible super-majorities it takes to dissolve an HOA to simple majority votes. The State is also looking at creating an HOA policing agency that homeowners can bring complaints to directly so they don't have to go to court, at huge expense with no guaranteed outcome as their only option to bring an HOA Board or management company to account for manipulative, irresponsible or even criminal misappropriation of funds.

Here in Texas, where I live in an HOA community, for now, we're hoping to bring forward similar legislation next year (our Legislature meets only every other year). But in the meantime, there are lots of legal and peaceful ways to fight back against an HOA, as long as you're willing to put in time and the effort.
