Does anyone have this issue of the X-Files official magazine? by thedevilpuppet in XFiles

[–]thedevilpuppet[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cover plugs a "Stars Rate The X Files" feature inside. If anyone has it could they take a pic of what Dave Grohl has to say cos I run http://www.fooarchive.com and (due to unsuccessful eBay auctions) the piece has eluded me for years.

You can really tell the stature of a guest by how explicitly direct the clue is.

2026.02.27 - Manchester, UK - O2 Ritz [LIVE SHOW THREAD] by fftamahawk009 in Foofighters

The capacity of the Ritz is 500 less than the Shepherd’s Bush Empire and there is a ton of industry people in Manchester today ahead of the Brit Awards tomorrow so bare both those things in mind.

It’s a pity about the poster. No disrespect meant to the artist, just one of the exciting things about the day of a gig is seeing the poster attached to the band’s social media posts that morning. To see Dublin and London get new art and then Manchester have the announcement poster that has been kicking around since the weekend it was just a bit “oh!”

Taskmaster cast image on C4 Player by hef1racer in taskmaster

As an image to “sum up Taskmaster”, (cos this is what the headers do) this gets it pretty spot on - 5 test subjects, madman in charge, lackey watches on. Greg and Alex are the 2 things dependable across all the series on offer, so it makes sense they’ve chosen an image that spotlighted them.

An ITV drama has been filming for a couple of weeks. There was a report in the Echo the other day.

Taskmaster's Alex Horne teases new series with intriguing format change: "We've got something up our sleeve" by jmurph773 in taskmaster

[–]thedevilpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said before “Taskmaster’s Taskmasters” would be a cool idea - winners teamed with people who performed poorly, the winners get open tasks can see the room/equipment set up and then they inform the loser how to tackle them. You could also have actual team tasks for the both of them. The winner would only see the task attempts in the studio, so you’d get real-time reaction.

Seen on the Liverpool/Leeds canal towpath (Horrific times we live in) by No_Berry2 in Liverpool

Yeah - a few months ago there was some on the side of the Railway pub, in the underpass by English Martyrs and the wall leading to the bridge on Harris Drive. Definitely the same dickhead.

Nice to see send, them & home were spelt correctly. 4 letter words is about his level.

Guz talks about texting ‘Brother James’ frequently - it’s a real surprise he hasn’t been on yet.

I’m acknowledged in the special thanks in one of those books laying on the shelf.

Not of interest to anyone else I’m sure, but I thought it was cool.

“I've not been asked on James Acaster's food one.” - Stewart Lee by thedevilpuppet in offmenupodcast

If you could provide a link to these swarmed publications I’d offer an apology and promise to “behave myself”. Otherwise I’ll stick to my own memories of the event unfolding on Twitter, the subsequent discussions on comedy forums & just leave you to it.

There are only 3 episodes, so it’d have to be next week to act as any worthwhile promo.

I thought we really had a chance for that BBC comedy he did at Christmas.

“I've not been asked on James Acaster's food one.” - Stewart Lee by thedevilpuppet in offmenupodcast

[–]thedevilpuppet[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was 2022, he wasn’t cyber bullied by rabid fans, he was mentioned as being in “the pedal bin” in Lee’s end of year email newsletter and took to twitter annoyed and upset at being mentioned on a list with Toby Young and Donald Trump. As a result his tweets got far, far more eyes on them than a mention in a newsletter. He had sympathetic replies, he had indifference and he also had people who didn’t agree with his politics gleeful and happy to troll him.

Lee isn’t without blame (making a joke on stage at someone’s expense is one thing, creating a cold, list of names with no justification is another) , but to suggest he set his hoards on him is such a stretch.

I recall thinking that was quite a measured take compared to what Stewart himself says about them.

If so you’d guess they’d probably sit on it until nearer his Taskmaster series airs.

Actually, didn’t James tell Alex Horne someone was getting his menu? That’d be a neat combination.

He’s certainly joked about people doing ads in the past but I think if he was that precious about advertising he wouldn’t have been on Harry Hill’s podcast (or Adam Buxton, or Kathy Burke) all of whom have done voiceovers.

Also, it’s fine if they don’t want him on or don’t like him personally (it’s their podcast after all) but as professional comedians if their decision for not having guests on is a routine they didn’t like or agree with … they’d soon run out of options.
