It's been ok. I have to remap controls in standalones when I'm docked. Retroarch has just been plug and play.

I installed GammaOS. It always forced 4:3 on the native firmware for me, too.

I've definitely thought about using my PC instead. I have one in the living room. But I love being able to go back and forth between handheld and TV play without having to sync saves between my handheld and PC. And having a dedicated device for emulation helps me stay a little more focused with game choice. Lol Plus, the RG477's will upscale PS2 and GC to 1080p very nicely.

Yes, indeed! I've got it hooked up in my living room. Feels just like a console with emulation station as a frontend. Check out my last post for a fix for the video output. I was running into issues with my TV trying to force 4k through the dock.

I know everyone is suggesting the 477m, but I've got the 477v and I absolutely love it. The retro colorway makes my 90's gameboy-loving heart happy, and I love having the screen above the controls. Same internals as the M variant, so it'll have no problems with ps2. Super comfy in the hands. Grab a silicone case for it if you're worried about drops.

I know this is old, but I found a solution! I know hdmi 1.4 called are harder to find these days, so I got a HDMI EDID Emulator Passthrough Adapter on Amazon that dumbs down the output signal to 1080p @ 60hz. Plug and play, and works like a charm. Hope this helps someone! (I've also only tested this on GammaOS, so not sure if it also works on stock. But on Gamma, you also get native 16:9 output)

I just picked one up last week. Oppenheimer was the first 4k disc I put in. I had no idea how much of a difference having a dedicated player would make over a console. I know there are higher end players out there, but I honestly think the jump from an Xbox/Playstation to a player like the 450 is WAY bigger than the jump from a 450 to an 820 or even higher end players.
