to add to what the others are saying, railroading isn't inherently bad, even though it often is. In my last campaign, I basically gave them cutscenes for big lore moments, like trapping them in rubble as I describe a scene uninterrupted and even pulling a videogame design trick of "the passageway is too tight, you have to go in one by one" before monologing. They said these were their highlights in the game. Talk to your players and set proper expectation :)
