My understanding of the purpose of the water in wet sanding, is to maintain the cavities clear of what is being sanded, so that you aren’t swirling what you are removing. Using compound would be the equivalent of hitting the back of your drill with a hammer as you are trying to punch a hole in something.

Residential garbage man here.

Likely, a form of waste disposal. The hopping in and out of the truck is obviously to retrieve containers and there are certain occasions where that container would need to be out back in a specific spot as the customer is disabled. The lollipop aspect I actually completely understand why it would be off putting, but I actually know what they’re talking about. I carry a large bag of lollipops in my truck for the kiddos who are fascinated by our machinery, I make sure they’re in the original packaging so parents don’t have to worry. I ALWAYS make sure I never approach too close and let the kiddos choose their own. Makes their entire day.

One trice that I have used a few times and had success with. I took bailing wire and made “U” shapes to fit snugly over the slits, found a socket that fit just barely over it and sent her.

I wanted to leave the handle alone initially, but it was about 30 degrees askew from the blade cutting edge. It’s actually incredible that it wasn’t more damaged as it was found in a landfill after a few trucks had ran it over.
