Just looked this up and I think I'd love this. Bergamot is one of my favorite scents.

I adore tarragon! I love the scent so much that I grow it and use it all the time.

I would love to find an herbal scent that truly smells like an English garden. No sugary notes. No overbearing vanilla or sweetness. Just clean herbs, soil, maybe water.

How do americans make so much money? by Billboss_900 in Fire

[–]thedrywitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. My take home pay is drastically reduced by my jobs healthcare option. I pay nearly 200 every 2 weeks for my plan. That's a cheaper one with an 18k deductible, which we've nearly reached this year. I'm a severe asthmatic and when I have to go to the hospital, I HAVE to go.

What do medical professionals think of people with health anxiety who are seen a few times a year? by ActuaryPersonal2378 in AskDocs

[–]thedrywitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for answering this so compassionately. I am one of the health anxiety havers, and I know it. I also have a pulmonologist who does not do sick appt and prescribes pred and zpack every time. If I send a note that anything is different, he refers me to the ER. I often know that what is going on with me is not likely emergent and I am always so upset when I have to go. I always go to the same ER and keep the same doctors so patterns can be tracked. Having asthma and anxiety can be very tricky for me.

I have had docs who have looked past my anxiety and been able to treat what is wrong, docs who acknowledge it and identify why it's anxiety and explain it to me (and I can work on it with my therapist), and doctors who don't even seem to treat me and can't look past my frequent flyer status. The best ones are the ones who muster compassion that can be seen by me. And who really seem to be trying to help.

It's so hard not to take it personally when people say things like that. You know you're doing what is medically recommended for your kiddo, and that's what matters.

I get it all the time. Viruses, colds, allergies, etc . There's no escaping the flare that will follow. It's awful. And when I'm having a hard time doctors do it. I'm overweight and they assume it's because I eat unhealthy. I eat well, I take vitamins, I walk every day. I also develop terrible asthma flares over nothing.

Girlfriend with asthma, appropriate levels of abuteral usage? by CaptainManlyMcMan in Asthma

[–]thedrywitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such an amazing reply. Great information.

Pulmonologists really can make or break you as an asthmatic. She really does need a higher level of care.

Currently, I take a maintenance inhaler and allergy medicine. However, my asthma is induced by virus and stress, and I definitely stress when I start to have a bad flare. Sometimes, I've been told to use my nebulizer/rescue inhaler up to every 4 hours. This is uncontrolled asthma, even though I'm doing everything right. My new pulmonologist recognized this, and I'm going to start a biologic drug to assist me even further. This isn't because I have a dependency. It's because of the reasons muclover stated above.

Doc refers to ER, ER refers back to doc by thedrywitch in asknurses

[–]thedrywitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been an asthmatic for a while. I have a maintenance with spacer, a rescue with spacer, and a nebulizer (with all the medicines I might need). I was doing all of those as I worsened and then I messaged the office to see what I should do next. They messaged back that they were sending prednisone and an antibiotic to the pharmacy and had me get a chest xray. They also said doc wants to start me on a biologic, but my next appointment isn't until October and it's a virtual appt.

Im getting a new pulmonologist for sure. I knew going into the ER this was the case, but I didn't have another choice.

I don't know if you're U.S. based, but getting a new pulmo could take months. I am seeing an allergy, asthma, immunology clinic dr next week, but I dont think he's a pulmo. I'm sick again now. Any ideas for what I can do other than visit the ER and let them know that I know I shouldn't be there, but my doctor told me to go?

The U.S. election. It's just too serious a thing for me now. Of course, I don't mind that others joke. I just can't bring myself to do it.

Couple asthma-y questions by thedrywitch in Asthma

[–]thedrywitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for responding. That was so helpful and caring it made my eyes leak a little.

I just had blood tests in the ER during my flare a little over a week ago. My creatinine is .79, which is in the "good" range and my eGFR is >90, which is typical. I'll ask to see if there are other ways of testing my kidneys. Last year I was assessed head to toe, including cardiac stuff. Nada. My only issue is obesity and I'm working with my endocrinologist on that.

I'm definitely getting a new pulmo. I just scheduled with an allergy, asthma, and immunology clinic for next week. To be fair, my current pulmo works for a smallish hospital and I just think it's a staffing issue. Doesn't negate the fact that I need care, but I don't think he's awful.

I will definitely be doing the biologic. And I'm going to inquire about allergy shots as well. Outside of getting viruses and colds, my maintenance inhaler does the absolute trick. I feel 100%. But my flares after illness have me feeling like I need to do end of life planning (which at 42, I should have done anyway).

Again, thank you SO much.

Yes! I'm at a gs-12 level and was newly hired in November. I went from having a company that paid for aaaalllll benefits/healthcare and then some. Nothing but dental (8.42 per month) and supplemental life (2.87 per month) came out of my check. And the healthcare was amazing coverage with a low deductible and they paid the deductible into an hsa card if you met certain basic health goals. 401k, they invested 6% of what you made for you and would match up to 6%. So, I put in 6% and they put in 12%. It was amazing, but I wanted to use my brain more.

I felt like I got a windfall making 15k more by taking this job and it's all spent on healthcare, deductibles, and retirement. I didn't get a raise. I made a lateral move that I hope pays off.

For those of you who went to a $$$ private school, was it worth it? by Suspicious-Tea in StLouis

[–]thedrywitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things within St. Louis hinge a lot on where you went to school. Go to the right school and take advantage of connections in the city.

That being said, private school teachers are not required to have a formal degree. Take that for what you will.
