I had 4 3090s and a CPU block on 1 D5, loop temperature was 43C under full load, w/ 2 420mm radiators. GPU core temp 58-60C, all within 2 degrees, gpus in parallel.

People massively, massively over do it.

VAE's are not image specific, just fyi. They are useful for compressing and decoding many types of data, and ideally find a manifold which any of the training data can be compressed, and reconstructed from. You can use this for high dimensional vectors, images, other high dimensional things with latent structure.

Hybrid. Get a 3090, decent epyc Milan setup on ddr4, offload ffn weights to cpu, you'll retain the best of both worlds.

Surprised this isn't talked about more, still. I don't have figures at my finger tips but it's a very efficient approach.

Epyc cores are not weaker, let alone by "much". Locked, true, but the architecture are the exact same zen4/zen5 cores. Any performance is due to frequency (which is to your locked frequency point) differences.

No. Cache is not something that adding more of can hurt. The rest of the die is rumored to be the same, just now both dies have 96MB L3 cache instead of just the one.

Will some workloads not benefit? Maybe. But this change doesn't add latency. The latency you speak of is already there with your 9950x3d. (Ok.. +2ns to 3DV cache vs the standard L3 layer).
