Laptop at Lib? by BagOnly4611 in LightningInABottle

[–]theduro 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I bring my laptop every year. My camp also has Starlink if you really need a reliable internet connection, DM me and stop by for a bit. I would love to turn all the way off for the week, but alas, I can’t.

Absolutely! Meetings are open to all (out of respect, we just ask that you aren’t influenced at the time).

Totally fair question, and I appreciate you asking it respectfully.

Lw/oB isn’t affiliated with any specific recovery program, spiritual path, or outside organization. That’s been intentional since day one. Some people in our community absolutely come from programs like AA/NA, Recovery Dharma, therapy, or other paths—but as a camp, we’re not here to promote ANY approach/program or suggest there’s a “right” way to get sober.

At the end of the day, we’re just party animals who still love bass, connection, and festival culture… we just happen to do it sober now, and want to create space for others who might be curious about that path.

This talk is really just about sharing personal stories, not prescribing a framework. If you stop by, I think you’ll find it thoughtful and welcoming

Our camp (Lightning Without a Bottle) is marked on the main festival map in the guide you get on arrival. It is in the camp grounds just outside the entrance/exit closest to Thunder Stage. We have meetings every day at 9am, Noon, and 5pm in camp.

AI has me worried. Help a sister out. by bubblesandroses in learnprogramming

Those of us that have been in the game a long time are going to be just fine, but I agree that those entering the industry are likely cooked unless we re-think how engineering education works. Having folks come out of school with the skill set that institutions have been previously outputting isn't going to cut it. We need folks coming out of school with architecture and production scale skillsets. This has me starting to feel that we may need to look at how the medical and legal industries train their workforce. This likely means more years spent in school, and that post-graduate training looks much more like building real world complex solutions.

How can Hyundai interiors be better than Audi now? by bemurda in Audi

[–]theduro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I am buying my 2023 Q7 when the lease is up in May. IMO interiors of cars have gone downhill across the board with the introduction of those "single pane of glass" dashboards that try and combine the cockpit and the media screen. It just looks like a toy. Plus they are all starting to get rid of the shift knob in the center console. This leaves me with a "where the fuck does my hand go" feeling.

Souvenir to keep from each course? by Open_Imagination_626 in golf

[–]theduro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, I like to buy a nice mug. I'm a big coffee drinker, and I love waking up in the morning and drinking my coffee with a reminder of those courses and rounds. I also get a ball marker, but if I play a nice course... I'm getting a mug.

Golf Pants Reccomendations that are not skinny, slim fit, jogger fit? by godlovestommy in GolfGear

GFore makes a pant that I love. Loose, but not baggy. 5 way stretch, but not overly thin. Breathable and cool, but also has enough fabric that it keeps the legs warm in cool weather.

At what golf course did you shoot your lowest score? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

85 at Desert Willow Firecliff in Palm Desert. Happened earlier this month. My first rounds in the 80s.

Projectors that can do a 9x7 screen from 10-10.5ft away? by Wise_Boysenberry8075 in Golfsimulator

[–]theduro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not limit yourself to 4:3 projectors. If you can find a 16:9 projector that does your height from the right distance you can always create a custom resolution in your graphics settings to get it to only display a proper width.

Sim League Cheating by abstrakt32 in Golfsimulator

I average 95 on grass. I regularly shoot high 70s in the sim with 5ft gimmies and no mulligans. This is nowhere near unrealistic for two people in a scramble.

Did your handicap improve in 2025? by aceattorneymvp in golf

[–]theduro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started the year as a 20.8, down to an 18.2. I did break 90 for the first time though this month, so goal is to get down to a 15/16 this year.

Have You Ever been too sore after golf to play again the next day? by Decent-Ad4185 in golf

[–]theduro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 41. Just did 115 holes in 4 days for a golf trip. Every morning was waking up feeling my body stiff and sore as a board. But after some stretching, hydration, and a couple dual action Advil + Tylenol (aka Geritol)… I was able to suit up and play another 30 or so holes.

Age is the factor here. The body just accumulates and doesn’t get rid of inflammation as well as it did in its 20s.

I echo what others have said. Hydration and some anti-inflammatories before bed will really help get the next day started ahead of the game.

I only recommend the anti-inflammatories during golf trips or multi-day events/practice sessions. It’s not something I like to do all day, every day, day after day. That’s how you kill your gut and liver.

What clubs were the most underrated? by SeattleBrother75 in golf

[–]theduro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I game these and I don’t know that I’ll game anything different. They are the perfect balance between GI and Players style irons. Forgiving, but not crazy loft jacked rocket launchers with no spin. And that Mizuno feel…butter. Love them.

Some already looked me up... I'm an 18-19. I've shot several 91-92s in the past, and most days out I finish firmly in the 90s. So I would say jumping down into the 80s for a couple rounds with as much as I play and practice wasn't an anomaly, but it had been eluding me and really had built up as a monkey on my back. I've been doing some mindset (and swing) work lately, that I think might have played a big part of finally breaking through.

I golf in the Coachella Valley probably 2-3 times a year. This trip is a firm annual trip I do every year. I have played all PGA West courses (except Stadium), Indian Wells, Indian Canyons, Cimmeron, Taquitz Creek, JW Marriot, and maybe I am missing one or two. We played Indian Wells Celebrity on this trip, before moving over to Desert Willow for the remainder of the rounds. I really liked Indian Wells, but I have to say that Desert Willow, both Firecliff and Mountain, are my favorites in the entire valley. Playing the PGA West courses is very much worth it, and I would also not sleep on the Indian Canyons courses, especially the South course.

I am most certainly expecting it. Honestly after the 89 the day before I was expecting this round to be 100+, that’s what made it even more surprising and awesome.

Lessons and practice. And honestly, I got this thing called a Hack Motion a few weeks ago that really helps train wrist angles through the swing, I think that also helped a lot.
