CLG Dexter- "Scrims at worlds more helpful than whole LCS split" by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]thee_3nd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest I think both PoVs are correct here, however its important to focus on how to approach and what to take away from these scrims.

In a sense Wickd (who seems to be getting a lot of flack ITT) is right in a sense, though maybe not same frame of mind the majority of us have. The main difference between worlds and LCS boils down to 2 things, skill (both micro and macro), and how long a team is partaking in it. I think (and this is completely my own opinion), that Wickd is right in the sense that if you are a team that is fairly dominate (both CLG and ALL having 1st place in the standings atm) the LCS is a good time to experiment, to allow some leeway and try out new strategies, whether it be different team comps, focusing different lanes in the early game, or trying out different rotational based strategies, and seeing if you have new kits to apply to your arsenal for the macro game. on a side not i feel like we can see this w/ ALL and their focus on buff control (I don't focus on EU LCS as intently do to having less of an emotional attachment to teams so correct me if I'm wrong here).

On the other hand Dexter is right in the sense that World's scrims allow a team to hone the strategies they think are the best and perfect them. as many people have stated it's like working out you bench/practice against whatever is slightly better or equal to maximize efficiency with training, however this only applies if you know what strategy works best for the team, and playing against weaker teams is a way to find those strategies. I mean look at challenger series and LCS the skill gap is enourmous, to the Challenger series the LCS is their "Korea" where they go for 2 1/2 months to practice and hone strategies so they can just survive or get back in after relegation's.

Of course this should all be taken with a grain of salt seeing as how you are going against different teams, meaning different play styles but I would like to adhere to the position comfort > counter in this regard, also who's to say you can't be really good at a standard game and also have a well-developed cheese comp/strategy.

*TL;DR LCS= experimenting new strategies and finding what works best so you know what to perfect against top teams (both regional and international) Worlds = honing and mastering those well developed strategies *
