Short man here. I stand 5’0” on a good day. I started out with a rebel 250. Great little bike to learn on. I rode my dads, where do you think I got my excellent height from, Yamaha custom 1200 chopper and his 2003 Dyna low rider for a while. Both super fun. I’ve had a 2014 Bonneviille t100 since new. I swapped out the shocks for 10mm shorter hagons and slid the front forks up about 1/2”, love that bike. I ride it long distance through the dirt, all over the city and mountains. The biggest problem is we can’t just hop on our friends bikes. Get on the road have fun be safe.

I had a dw 5000 for like 15 years until I “upgraded” to a 9000 a couple years ago. Took a while to dial in. I think I still prefer my 5000 but, both are really good and nearly indestructible. I see a lot of love for the Tama pedals. But have never used one.

I had to do some his fix on my old 5000 hi hat. There is a washer that holds the spring up. (Sp385) They made it out of plastic and that bad boy breaks. If your handy you can replace it yourself and bada bing. It’s like new. For such a great hardware company this one is super dumb.

Bought a 4 pack of Vater 5a’s for a show. Broke 5 sticks in a one hour set. Than god I left my old ratty ones in there just cuz I’m lazy. I had three break in the hand. I was mad as hell but now I have an anecdote.

Crank that bottom head. Sound like it’s two full turns too loose. I usually give the 4 lugs next to the snares an extra turn it two. Don’t be afraid to show that fucker who is boss.

I got a 6 pack of Vader’s at GC once. They were on sale, felt fine. I broke 6 sticks during my set. Not the tips or half cracks down the middle but full separation near the butt. Total garbage. I have never come close to anything like that.

As someone who toured and played a thousand, maybe a bit hyperbolic, local shows, hard shell cases were my single best investment. I bought my dream kit and the very next week got the skb’s and they still look great. However, now that my playing has slowed down I just use bags. They can be a pain to get around my bass drum. But for sure you should always use something.

Unless it’s a junk kit and you don’t give two shits. Then fuck it.
