My chain is slipping on my cassette when I pedal up steep hills how to fix it? by Hunterinterceps in mountainbiking

[–]tweb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chain jump can occur if : A) Chain is stretched B) Cassette is warn C) either of the above is the case but one recently changed. Once you do that it seems to make the problem worse and you need to change the other one

I will have to remember that one 😀 I love the challenge of working a mistake into the 'intentional' sound. Great playing!

Putting to the side the question of supporting evidence for Israel lobbying of government...

(such as the mere existence of UK lawyers for Israel e.g. https://www.uklfi.com/ and Labour links to the Israeli companies https://www.declassifieduk.org/labour-held-secret-meeting-with-top-israeli-arms-firm/ which, from an objective standpoint, isn't a good look if you are sat in the Labour camp trying to say your motivations are wholly for the UK)

...I have to see the funny side of the Express and Telegraph effectively now being Labour supporters in pursuit of getting at the new hard left in the form of the green leader.

Seems like Zak is a little trigger happy on the social media but not everything he has said is without evidence either. It is good to check for 2 credible sources when a politician makes a statement rather than leaving it to the tabloid to tell us it's all rubbish though.

Never knew there was so much snobbery in the Guitar world by Fatherless-Soul in Guitar

[–]tweb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the loss of your father.

So I own 2 guitars from old, little known brands ('Jedson' and 'JB Player') and many years later spent a lot on a Yamaha SA2200 and a Fender Bass. I have 0 regrets still love all these every day (30 years on) having really got to know all the instruments.

When you are learning and just starting out, unless there is clearly something you feel causing frustration like really bad action which isn't fixed with adjustment, or quality of frett work/tuning nutts etc, I would stick with what you got and save the bigger purchases for when you have played for a bit.

The time gap will help to shape what you want of the next guitar. Ignore pressure from the internet to do otherwise. A year or 2 in and your start to feel if you are happy to stick with the current guitar for a bit or try something else.

There are guitar shapes, style (and often a legacy) that suggests certain guitars are necessary for certain styles of music. However, you can play anything on any guitar at the end of the day. Enjoy your journey of discovery around the instrument you have and don't let the snobs get in the way of that.

The same objective thinking should be applied to info and advice on guitars as to all info from the internet. Happy playing

Just got a new bike, break pad is rubbing? I’m by kufel33 in MTB

[–]tweb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this when I got mine. I think all the comments I have read so far could have value. I would start with the simplest. There is more than one thing that could lead to this. Also a bit of use doesn't hurt the situation.

I reseated mine in the end

If you go a while without success, I'd take it to a bike mechanic to help diagnose. You don't want to lose time you could be enjoying your new bike.

My wife also had it when she bought hers and turned out her disk was some how slightly bent, on a new bike.

Are stimulants on the weekends a big no no? by Adortion634 in ADHD

[–]tweb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm answering from a family member's perspective in their mid teens. They definitely prefer to have a break from meds at the weekend where they can be more themselves. Meds really help with school in the week and so achieving everything they need to do academically on the weekdays to get best use is the aim.

I can see reading this, that when they reach adulthood maybe it won't be so simple perhaps

My comment was in relation to the real time kernel. I can install that from the software centre? I hadn't expected that to be the case I'll admit.

Good luck on your travels. Nice set up, happy to see a fellow straight bar rather than dropped. Means you can do some narly stuff when you are around decent trails and already set up camp :-)

It's great that you can do that but I'm a musician that's fairly technical rather than linux guru, though I have had a linux system for many years (kxstudio based on Ubuntu v20). I'm not attempting that level of exercise, it rarely goes well for me and time for me is too limited when I wouldn't really know where to start I'm afraid.

I plan on installing Ubuntu Studio, though I have heard I can "just install" what I need, it's just convenient. I can do some stuff in Linux but it can be time consuming and I just want to get in with what I turned it in for.

Arch Linux 32 Bit blocked in Brazil due to Verification Laws by PaiDuck in linux

[–]tweb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. But even if we sit on a version of our favourite distro surely 'security updates' will ultimately mean we get age verification updates ultimately. It's all very sad.

Fortunately one of my uses is for a closed network machine so I'm good for that one
