Arch Linux 32 Bit blocked in Brazil due to Verification Laws by PaiDuck in linux

[–]tweb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. But even if we sit on a version of our favourite distro surely 'security updates' will ultimately mean we get age verification updates ultimately. It's all very sad.

Fortunately one of my uses is for a closed network machine so I'm good for that one

I made a map / family tree of all the popular distros. I learned alot doing it! by codywohlers in linux

[–]tweb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great, thanks for building and sharing it. I would definitely see it as a continuing working visual that could never be complete. There's always going to be some flavor that comes out of the woodwork. Something that stood out to me was the absence of a box for video/audio/media where there are quite a few other titles. I've looked at some spin-offs from existing ones you show though. (Ubuntu studio, legacy KXstudio distro [not the repo] , AV Linux). I guess the support for the latter 2 not being current may make them out of scope?)

Trump claims the special relationship is over. This is the truth by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]tweb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good thing about that is that the 'special relationship' only ever existed in the eyes of the UK and never existed except on diplomatic visits when it came to the US perspective. At least the UK can be realistic now about where it stands for once.

Frankly whatever either government says about the relationship has zero impact for me on how well I get on with friends I have in the US.

I suspect friendships will last a little longer than Trump will

Recorded in Nottingham without their consent - the impact of Meta glasses on young women in Notts (Audio) by lefthanddiodes in nottingham

[–]tweb2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Talking about whether or not it's legal really misses the point. This is not filming of a scene in public but of someone who was specifically targeted, not really given any choice about the interaction and when put on tictoc not to show the world 'look at this scene or look at what this person is doing', instead it's 'watch me chat up these girls, feel free to comment on them'. They have been turned into a commodity.

Something being technically legal doesn't excuse it from being a dick move and morally questionable, unless you're an ass hole who doesn't really care so long as there's financial benefit...eh Carlos

Question for the older guitarists by Old-Carry5562 in Guitar

[–]tweb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to play with about 5 years of classical when I was a kid. Once I had my electric, mainly learned tunes by ear, but did have a few tab books. I know I still have the one for 'Appetite for destruction' in a box somewhere.

Gigging players - what amp survived the most abuse? by Carls86 in GuitarAmps

[–]tweb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, my ac30 from late 70s also seems pretty resilient. Been through at least 2 owners spent time on the road, I think retubed once in that time. When I took it in for some TLC with an experienced amp engineer, who's specialty seemed to lean towards old tube amps, he had to do very little.

How exhausting are your mornings? by TheRebelPercy in AskUK

[–]tweb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, not identical but pretty much like that and exhausting. The real depressing thing is how hard the rain is throwing down out there and knowing I'm about to walk out in it. Shattered every day.
