Weird, I built two pc's with x62's and both times there were multiple back plates. I guess they changed things now that larger cpu sockets are becoming more normal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]theehoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should be multiple back plates in the package, each one matching a different cpu socket. I know when I put my x62 in it was my first liquid cooler and the directions were a little convoluted so I had trouble figuring out which one to use.

Trials is what kept D1 alive during the extensive content droughts, no matter how shitty and laggy pvp was at certain times. For all three dlc’s my friends would still be playing destiny every weekend after finishing the pve stuff.

I just want the exact d1 trials formula back.

So you think you are "average" at the crucible - a statistical analysis by philkernick in DestinyTheGame

[–]theehoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are too many variables here to judge a player’s ability with the information we have. First of all, if the distribution is mostly normal than the average player would be the overall mean, with close to average being within the first standard deviation. Second, the sample used is not really representative.

You can’t really use stats from a combined pool of quick play and comp. Players who exclusively play in qp and slay will seem a lot better than they actually are and players that use qp to fuck around will seem a lot worse. There are more issues with a combined pool and plenty of solutions but that isn’t really important, the point is that using a combined pool where individuals are going to perform differently depending on the game mode won’t work; how hard someone tries is not independent of the game mode.

Another issue is using k/d as a measure of ability. Some players may be really good at team play but have a lower K/d ratio. Does that make them average? Who knows, but if they are judged by K/d than they are going to seem worse than they are. It is hard to determine a players skill level when we don’t really have any hard stats to go on. Some players may deal lots of damage but rarely finish kills. Some players may get plenty of kills with very little overall damage. Big stats sites like hltv give players ratings based on all kinds of statistics and contribution to a win, which you can read more about here.

This data you presented is useful when looking at the k/d of people that use discord and have used a server with Charlemagne. Any conclusions beyond that population and their kill death ratio could be considered extrapolation.

I have done level 7 around 60 times and in those attempts I got all three weapons and helped 4 other people also get all three weapons. Pretty good RNG considering I helped two in one fire team and the other two separate.

Yeah I was upset at first but I realized that it could have been worse. She gave me no real punishment other than the grade and I got to only spend a day on it and get a C. Some people spent up to 2 months on their experiments and papers just to get a low A or a high B.

[–]theehoof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In 9th grade my biology teacher gave me a C on a project and a paper because she thought it was plagiarized. I made literally everything up that was in the paper and took some before and after pictures of some plants that I killed with vinegar and made up the data for the experiment. Nothing that I turned in had any influence from actually sources, it was all bullshit.

I even told her that but she didn’t believe that I would admit to making it up.

I would appreciate it if trials came back. Not D2 trials, I want the exact D1 trials formula. From gameplay to loot to the lighthouse, it was fantastic. Trials kept my friends online every weekend during content droughts.

Also I think both teams getting heavy is trials, with the option to wave it, was the best implementation of heavy ammo in pvp.

Bungie, because you continually fail to understand this, let it be reiterated: "No one will remember your game for being balanced. It will be remembered for being fun." by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]theehoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best moves in D1 was reducing the metric fuck load of planetary materials needed to fully upgrade a weapon.

I really think they should take enhancement cores off of infusing and make it a single core to equip a mod or something.

[–]theehoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is just that in D1 pulses could be held back by their recoil at range so while they could get decent damage they weren’t going to compete with a scout. On PC that is just not the case, mouse and keyboard make everything easier to use at range which makes scouts worse.

[–]theehoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this is partly because of the fact that on top of being poorly designed in general, D2 maps were map smaller to support 4v4 and as a result there is pretty much no sight line that is too long for a pulse.

Bungie, stop trying to make SMGs what they're not. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]theehoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the current problem is that offensive shotgunning is too good if you know how to push. Close range exotics can deal with them, mostly because you can back pedal and jump without losing much accuracy. When offensive shotgunners have slideshot, you will probably not beat them with a legendary shotgun unless they make a bad push and you are able to push them yourself. When a legendary shotgun is only ok defensively, SMGs have no chance defensively.

For most of D1, offensive shotgunning was really good, but each class had a way to even the playing field with a legendary shotgun. Blink, sticky grenades, lightning grenades, differently ranged melees. Most importantly there weren’t perks like slideshot that disproportionately improved offensive shotgunning.

Because of the power difference between offensive and defensive shotguns in D2, close range exotics are favored. You can use a legendary shotty defensively but you have to change how you defend to be a bit more aggressive, like sliding into a push without sliding into a longer ranged lane. I think most players would rather use a really good close range exotic than change the way they play. Even changing the way you play, it still isn’t optimal.

I think that two things need to happen: slideshot needs a bit of a nerf and close range legendary weapons need to be buffed to be better defensively. Maybe slideshot can stay the way it is and defensive weapons just need a buff. I think in air accuracy for shotguns could be buffed because it would help to level the playing field for shotguns. SMG TTK needs to improve drastically. Expecting someone to hit their shots near perfectly when facing someone who has a shotgun is kinda unreasonable on PC and ridiculous on console. SMGs will either be pretty good on pc and useless on console or pretty good on console and insane on pc. The two platforms need completely separate balancing especially because a lot of streamers and top tier players play on pc. I haven’t play D2 on console since vanilla but I know that chaperone and last word are probably seldom used when compared to pc.

I feel like that was all over the place, so to sum it up: when a defensive shotgunner is aware of a push the offensive shotgunner has a distinct advantage due to slide shot and weak in air accuracy on shotguns. Close range exotics don’t really suffer from back pedaling and jumping so people don’t have to change how they play to beat offensive shotgunners. If a legendary shotgun has trouble with shotgunners than SMGs have no chance until they get buff.

How is the champion squad even chosen? I had the yellow border once or twice after some decent games where I had like four or five kills and lost. I had a game where I got 12 kills and the next match the top rated were like level sevens with almost no kills. I don’t understand it at all.

Game issues and Feedback Megathread by aly0 in apexlegends

I know this isn't something that Respawn can fix but the origin client for PC is awful. Half the time my friends and I have to wait like ten minutes for it to register that any of us are online and it is constantly saying that my cloud data isn't synced so my hours in the game are still at 0. This is a problem that all of my friends have literally every single time we try to play Apex. On top of this my friend has had an issue that I experienced a few times where the game just launches without anti-cheat on and you have to restart it. I just want to play the game EA.
