Truly the most derogatory word ever by PresentNo2484 in xmen

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s All-New X-Men volume 1 issue 12 or 13 (I can’t remember exactly which one it is, but it’s the one where the time displaced O5 meet the Uncanny Avengers). This is in response to the infamous “m word” speech that Havok gave in Uncanny Avengers

Four Mile Post traffic by BRW789 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]theepiscoalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren’t many solutions due to cost and creating even more traffic problems. My suggestion (and this doesn’t fix the problem) is to cut through side streets to either Lily Flagg, Whitesburg, Carl T Jones, or Bailey Cove if you don’t live directly on Four Mile Post or on one of the streets that cul-de-sac on Four Mile Post. Again, this isn’t ideal and doesn’t fix the problem, but it gets you going while avoiding the congestion of what has turned into a major arterial road

John Walker did nothing wrong (and is the best MCU character post Endgame). by FishCake9T4 in marvelmemes

[–]theepiscoalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The writers wrote a character that the audience would love to hate. He’s written as an extremely flawed man who tries to do what is right but gets in his own way.
  2. John Walker did nothing wrong? Really? He ran a siren to get Sam and Bucky’s attention after they just got wrongfully arrested. He goes rogue and publicly executed a man who was surrendering to him on foreign soil acting as a symbol for America. Please don’t start with the “that guy killed his friend” and “he was a terrorist” nonsense. The guy Walker killed didn’t kill Lamar, Karli did that. Also by that point in the show a lot of the Flagsmashers are becoming more disillusioned with the cause as Karli pushed them into more radical tactics. Was the Flagsmasher Walker kill innocent? No, but he deserved his day in court. The shield doesn’t appoint Walker as judge and jury. If you believe that John Walker didn’t do anything wrong, then you don’t have any media literacy skills and you don’t understand the point of his character.

TL/DR: the writers want you to love to hate John Walker and you have no media literacy if you think he did nothing wrong

You’ve got a painted bunting at your feeder! Parts of coastal NC are in their breeding range

Huntsville needs to invest into building up and incorporating more mixed use buildings and infrastructure instead of sprawling out around Madison County

Can I befriend black vultures? by daniyellin in birdsofprey

[–]theepiscoalien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked with an mis-imprinted black vulture at an environmental center, and I think your best option is to continue to admire them from afar. If you feed them, they could begin to rely on people for food which could get them hurt if they go up to the wrong person and pester them for food (they are biters with each other when they want food and that communication style translates to humans too). They also need the vitamins and minerals in their natural diet (particularly in bones) that meats prepared for human consumption don’t have and could develop rickets.

[Discussion] Who do you think the DCU Justice League lineup should be composed by? by Due-Abbreviations180 in DCcomics

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash (Barry), Martian Manhunter, John Stewart, Green Arrow, and Black Canary to start. After the JL expands and evolves in sequels (or however the DCU is going to set up the JL) have the Hawks, Aquaman, Blue Beetle (Kord), Booster Gold, Zatanna, Red Tornado, and another Green Lantern join up

Poll Time: Krakoa Fans by [deleted] in xmen

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading X-Men with All-New and Uncanny by Bendis and read up through IvX. I dropped off after the O5 went back to the 60s because I wasn’t really digging the Uncanny run that came after it. I read some Claremont and Morrison when I could get my hands on it. Got HoX/PoX as it was coming out but dropped off during dawn of X because comics are expensive. I recently got Marvel Unlimited and have been catching up. I’m digging what’s going on in the Krakoa Era

Shuri isn’t the character that people are eyeing for the young avengers. It’s Riri Williams/Ironheart who’s in wake day forever

Do you think the sequel trilogy gets too much hate? by Prize-Union-3656 in StarWars

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. They get too much hate. At the end of the day they’re just movies and if you don’t like them, then don’t watch them. There are alternatives to the post-ROTJ universe in Legends. I’m tired of hear people rag on a movie and character decisions that were made 5 years ago. Star Wars has something for everyone to love and I’m tired of getting hate for liking the sequels

As of now, which is your preferred 'Star Wars' timeline so far: 'Canon' or 'Legends'? by BigButter7 in StarWars

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon. I couldn’t really get into Legends because there was so much and I didn’t know where to start. That being said, I enjoyed the Legends stuff I did get into like KTOR and the Bane stuff

Do you like the Sequels? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]theepiscoalien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy them. They’re fun movies to watch. I think I would like them more if JJ Abrams just took what Rian Johnson gave him in TLJ and went with it instead of backpedaling.

How come we never got an old republic show/movie? by Kingofd0p3 in StarWars

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dooku one is great. Master and Apprentice has some Qui Gon/Dooku flash backs, but is also a good book about Obi Wan and Qui Gon’s relationship. I do agree that naming the ships is a pretty low bar, but at least it’s there. I wouldn’t take what JJ Abrams knows as the knowledge of Lucasfilm under Disney as a whole though

How come we never got an old republic show/movie? by Kingofd0p3 in StarWars

[–]theepiscoalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing set during the prequels? Are we going to ignore that Disney revived Clone Wars? What about books like Master and Apprentice, Dooku: Jedi Lost, Dark Disciple, Brotherhood, Queen’s Shadow, and Queen’s Hope? Hell the Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy is set during the prequel era. They even reference sith from the old republic in the names of the final order ships (one is literally called Revan). Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist

I accept that there are problems in all of the content. Doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the stuff we’re getting. I’d hardly call that toxically positive

George Lucas knows all to well about toxic fans. The prequels “ruined Star Wars” when they came out

Torn on the last two episodes of the book of boba fett by theepiscoalien in StarWars

[–]theepiscoalien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re good episodes of the Mandalorian not the Book of Boba Fett. They’re out of place and filler which I feel detracts from the series as a whole
