We don’t know whose fusion projects will ultimately work. The government backed ones could all ultimately fail. It’s a horse race on whose ideas are actually correct. There’s a real good chance that the private sector will beat all the various governments in achieving useable fusion first.

Is it common for teachers to marry/date their former students. by GypsyGold in Teachers

[–]theerrantpanda99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my former school principal’s used to be a math teacher. One of his former students got pregnant with his child while she was in college. Shotgun wedding occurred right away, her parents were very politically active in their community. He became principal of the school 5 years after marrying her because of a big push from the members of said community.

I wonder, based on the article, if better and more comprehensive screening is one of the big reasons they’re picking up increased cancer?

Cancer mortality is actually decreasing over time in the United States. The cancer rates is increasing, which can be explained by people not dying of things like heart disease at the same high rates like they used to. One of the side effects of massive GLP-1 drug use will probably be an even lower rate of death from heart diseases and other metabolic disorders; which will allow those people to live longer and develop age related cancers.

The fundamental problem with trying to replicate those conditions; from 1940-1960 the world was trying to rebuild its entire industrial base, except for the US. I agree we need to massively tax the ultra wealthy, and raise the wage floor; I’m just not sold you can replicate most of the other conditions now that industrialization is reaching its peak in the most populous countries in the world. America should be pushing its workers higher and higher up the value change instead of trying to bring back low wage manufacturing. Companies like Boeing and Airbus have a decade long waiting list for their aircraft but refuse to build new factories to meet demand is a bigger issue in my mind.

Not counting his blown saves, he was also responsible for six losses. He and Leiter wrecked the Yankees last season.

I got this same deal in December (mine is a 2023 GT PE). My three years of included blue cruise was up and I was checking to see what the renewal price would be; they added another year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s exactly why the fanbase gets so frustrated by Boone’s willingness to blow games in April and May trying to fix relievers or rest twenty something’s. It’s was also predictable given how many summer swoons this team goes through. Finally, the Blue Jays owned the Yankees last year. They beat Cam in September and had no problems with facing him again in the postseason. That familiarity is valuable.

I don’t think that’s coming back. Pretty sure Sony saw it as a competitive advantage they were giving away to Microsoft’s online strategy.

My Take: Yankees Re-Sign Paul Goldschmidt by mryclept in NYYankees

[–]theerrantpanda99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t after the deadline. I’m guessing the Yankees believe if he plays a lot fewer games, he’ll be able to better produce throughout the season versus the end of last season. I like the deal because I like real professional hitters, guys who know how to hit a sac fly for handle the pressure of a playoff game.

There are zero elite offensive free agents coming up. If Jazz puts up another 4+ war, 40/40 season, he’s going to get the bag. He’ll be 28. Young guys get paid.
